FULL TITLE: Comcast fires ten-year employee in Philadelphia after petition 'exposes him as a Proud Boy who flashed a white power sign while in his work uniform'
Comcast has fired a long-time employee after he was outed as an alleged member of far-right group the Proud Boys.
Andrew Kovalic was terminated on Wednesday from the cable company in Philadelphia following a petition, featuring a photo of him flashing the white power sign, demanding his removal.
The petition, which collected more than 400 signatures, was created by Philadelphia-based nonprofit Media Mobilizing Project and addressed Comcast CEO Brian Roberts saying 'Comcast: Fire white supremacist Andrew Kovalic Now'.
The petition called Kovalic's employment 'an embarrassment and an insult to the communities of Philadelphia and the country.'

McCarthyism.
Nothing like this would happen if he were part of an even more extreme leftist group.
Two possible interpretations:
* He voted, held up an OK sign and took a selfie, and liberal bullies pounced on him.
* He voted, used the OK sign as a new white power signal, and liberals jumped.
The Proud Boys are not exactly the best representatives for conservatism, but they are not actively racist like the clearly anti-Semetic Women’s March icons. Nor are they as violent as liberals make them out to be, while Antifa is explicitly threatening people and regularly violent.
If he’s going to be fired for this photo, fairness demands a heck of a lot of liberal bullies lose their jobs. Including professors and media figures.
It’s just you
Why is he taking selfies on the job? Why is he then posting them to social media?
Poor judgement all around
“If hes going to be fired for this photo,”
For this photo? you are kidding me! As far as I’m concerned that photo could mean 100 different things. That is the “Okay” sign. As far as I know he was repairing one of comcast’s lines and got the job done and was tweeting everything is “okay”. That is how I would have read this.
Am I just strange? or what?
Proud Boys are not far right, or far anything.
See my post 6
If anything they are agents of the Left to make conservatives look bad, just like the Westboro Church nutbags.
Westboro Church kooks are a (D) subsidiary
Some of the Proud Boys are black guys.
I hope this fired man has legal representation.
A bit witchy yes. After all what people do on their own time isnt their employers business.
Unless they engage in an activity their employer finds offensive while on company time. And in a company uniform no less.
I have no idea if these Proud Boys are indeed a white supremacygroup. I certainly wont take the medias claim they are as proof they are. And the only proof that exists that this man is some kind of white supremacist is that he is taking a selfie (granted in uniform) while making an ok sign with his hand.
Who knew that every time a white man makes an ok sign with his hand its some kind of code for white supremacy? Not me thats certain. So I dont see how the picture, by itself, proves this guy is a racist. And again, I dont see any independent proof that these Proud Boys are racists either, other than the media says they are. Which again isnt proof to me (anymore).
Im not saying they arent racists either. But just because some leftist group says they are to the media and then the media reports they are as fact well thats just not good enough any more.
So to me, all we have is a white guy making an ok sign. And somehow thats proof hes a racist. Scary times we live in indeed.
But with all that said, Comcast has every right to fire someone doing something they dont approve of in their own uniform. However stupid it is for Comcast to buckle under obvious leftist pressure can certainly be debated. But if they were convinced to their satisfaction this man was issuing some white supremacy sign while in uniform, well they are within their rights to terminate him.
As the ADLs Pitcavage explained last year, this whole story was fueled, like so much internet nonsense before it, with a 4chan trolling effort.
In February 2017, Pitcavage writes, a 4chan user proposed an effort called Operation O-KKK in which he and allies would, in the anonymous users words, flood Twitter and other social media websites claiming that the OK hand sign is a symbol of white supremacy. Heres the original 4chan post, as shared by KnowYourMeme:
The choice of the okay symbol for the prank, as KnowYourMeme editor-in-chief Brad Kim explains, was not totally arbitrary; Sometime during the 2016 United States presidential election, Kim writes, Pizza Party Ben and Milo Yiannopoulos began making the gesture together at various events supporting the candidacy of Donald Trump.
On February 13, 2017, a few weeks before the 4chan post, Jim Hoft and Lucian Wintrich of the alt-right outlet Gateway Pundit made the okay symbol in the White House Press Room. The left-leaning media watchdog Media Matters denounced it as a hate symbol, noting that images of alt-right mascot Pepe the Frog sometimes showed the character doing the okay sign:
“Am I just strange? Or what?”

No. You are just logical, but as we all know, logic is in short supply in today’s America.
So what’re ya gonna do about it?
"Thou art a Witch!"
“The Proud Boys is a far-right all-male hate group that promotes political violence.”
From the article.
How do you know he is on the job when he took this photo?
$3 million unjust termination suit filed next week.
I am not a member of the proud boys but if I was 20 years younger could see my self joining this group. they are very polite men that don’t back down from a fight. there is no racial component to the group. the thing that drives the left batty about them is that they are willing to say no to a leftist and if the left gets violent they will in turn react with violence...the type of guy that joins is the type of guy who goes out of his way to help a stranger and they will bud in if they see someone abusing someone. The left is scared of them because they wont be polite about objecting when the left steps over the line something the left constantly does. this is dangerous to he left because it allows the more timid to look at there example and say no also.
