If the 17th amendment was repealed we’d have a lock on 60+ Senators.

Does that or does it not account for Doug Jones being hit by a bus?

JJ ran his butt off and so did the grassroots campaign supporting him. I gave often and I think many others did as well. There were some problems but you cannot blame JJ losing on a bad campaign. Especially when you don’t know what it was like on the inside. Apology accepted in advance for your armchair criticism.

One of the 53 is Mitt “I voted for my wife” Romney. Then there are Murkowski and Collins of course. That gets it to 50/50. Pence is going to be a busy.

Murkowski and Collins loom large mainly because of Supreme Court nominations. They're likely to flip against a presumptive pro-life nominee who misses even one beat on the "I respect precedent" and "there are no clear statements on abortion in my record" Kabuki dance. The situation is still close but not nearly as dire on most other issues.

The left does this every elections because they know the Republicans will lie down and not fight. We just sit around and post ‘we respect the rule of law’, ‘they’re the real NAZIS’, ‘wait till the next election’, ‘they (fill in the name of your favorite minority) are natural conservatives’. Useless Republican leadership. And Rick Scott recuses himself. Please.

I wouldn't be too proud of that, Mitch. A net two seat pickup in this past mid-term environment is pathetic. It should have been 5 or 6 if not more.

The Law is the Law— as is the Constitution. You’d be surprised how many— at the Senatorial level, are “instructed” that the Constitution is quite clear on MANY of the points corporations, whether they support L or R, rely on to deliver profit to their stockholders.

As such— Trump is in agreement with these, and the so called “MAGA” nominee would not necessarily be in confrontation with these “rino” and even “dhimmi” democrats. So, no— he will not be “forced” to pick the now out of power GOPe and radicalized non-democrat Senators (whose party is in the process of dissolving with the ultra-left,,, becoming like the Whigs did).

Nothing!

They were for Trump anyway, so who cares?

Besides, they asked Bush and he told them to let it alone, it might make Nancy & Chuckie mad!

Let’s take Hugin in NJ. Ran very good attack ads but distanced himself from Trump. Menendez ran anti Hugin / anti big pharma ads in a state where big pharma is really big including some snaps where Hugin is next to Trump and asserting that they were joined at the hip.

Blame Hugin for his stupidity not Trump or Turtle

Time is running out to save this republic. If you look at California, the distinction between citizens and non-citizens has basically been dissolved, and that extends into the voting booth. We tolerate millions of non-citizens illegally living here, and as we formalize their status with driver’s licenses, welfare payments, etc., there’s nothing to stop them from voting. Now, they’ve basically established a one-party state with those illegal votes, and that extends not only to state offices, but also the Senate and House of Representatives.

The same thing has more or less happened in Colorado, Virginia and New Mexico, with Arizona, Texas, Georgia and Florida queued up next in line. Unless Trump can dramatically and conclusively win this war on illegal immigration, it’s going to be lights out for America in just a few years.

Why just 53. Counting Scott, democrats were defeated in Indiana, Missouri, and North Dakota. That is four new Republican senators.

Senate has the Constitutional power to refuse to seat Cheater Nelson.

“Why just 53. Counting Scott, democrats were defeated in Indiana, Missouri, and North Dakota. That is four new Republican senators.”

Assuming the victory later this month by Cindy Hyde-Smith in MS, we should’ve had 55, but remember, the GOP lost in NV and AZ.

It won't be necessary to even address it. Rick Scott has won that seat.

A unified GOP over the last two years keeps the house and has 58 seats in the senate. The RNC has got to be flushed out of its current leadership and replaced by folks that understand you don’t campaign two months before an election, but everyday for two years. Take the message to the voter on a personnel level, knock on door after door and listen to voters. Day after day for the next two years. We don’t have the money to compete with the trillion dollar deep state, the trillion dollar media. We have to go old school, and actually talk and listen to voters.

I think Mitch is going to find he has 49 senators, the dems are going to get the majority in the Senate, somehow. And, if the dems get to 51 by cheating, they are going to refuse to seat a lot of reps, they will have themselves a supermajority. I am furious with President Trump and the GOP congress, they had 2 years to fix this and they did not, and for their laziness they will pay dearly, and so will we all!
