RE: #2457 and the Red October in November:
https://www.newsweek.com/why-russias-october-revolution-november-702424
Russia will mark 100 years since its 1917 October Revolution on Tuesdaywhich, confusingly, is November 7.
It goes without saying that a great deal changed when Vladimir Lenin led the Bolsheviks in their overthrow of the Russian state on 25 October, 1917, not least the fact that from then on the anniversary of ‘Red October’ would be marked in November.
That is because prior to 1917, the Russian Empire and its Tsars followed Eastern Orthodox Christianity in contrast to Western Christian nations, which retained an allegiance to Rome. The primary reason for this split, bizarrely, was due to calendars.
Orthodox nationsmany among the first to adopt Christianityhad been marking their calendar with the help of a system that dated back to 45 AD. Called the Julian Calendar, it remained in force across much of Eastern Europe, including Russia.
But most of Catholic and Protestant Europe had broken with the Orthodox world over the calendar. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII recommended an update of the Christian calendar which would fix a small miscalculation of the Julian calendar, by which it was out of step with each solar year by 11 minutes.
This new style became the standard in much of Europe, adopting the Popes so-called Gregorian calendar. But kingdoms in the east disliked the revision and overruled the popes orders. Russia, still ruled by a religiously conservative monarch, Nicholas II, kept the old style into the 1900s, at which point the two calendars were off kilter from one another by full days.
When Vladimir Lenin and his atheist Bolsheviks fully seized power from the royal family in 1917, the time for change came.
Lenin vowed to do away with the philosophy of the former regime and as part of many breakneck changes to make the empire an international, Marxist state, announced that the Soviet Union’s calendar would change to the Gregorian one.
By the end of January 1918, the Soviet Union only marked events in the new style and the revolution that set the state up to begin with, in October last year, had now been uprooted to November.
But since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992, the anniversary of the October Revolution being held in November is the least of its troublesindeed, the issue has been a reluctance on the part of Moscow to celebrate the at at all.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, reluctant to either promote Lenins messagein particular his leading of a government-toppling revolutionshas introduced cooked up ‘Unity Day,’ to be marked each year on November 4. The date marks a pre-Soviet victory over Polish forces and now is meant to embody a collective spirit of Russias people, without encouraging revolutionaries.
On the date of Lenins final triumphNovember 7Putin has also booked the venue where the Red Army would once march and salute the Soviet Unions founding leader. Today, forces dressed in historic uniforms will still gather in front of the walls of the Kremlin, but will instead re-enact a World War II parade.
I thought that was more diplomatic than some other words.
Ha. Good catch, GW.

> could end up with 60 GOP Senators?
I’m not sure. I think the current contested seats are AZ and FL and maybe Mississippi(?) requires a run off.
If we win those I *think* that takes us to 55. I really thought Tester would fall. WTF is up in Montana?
-SB
Only three?
Red October is in November because in 1917, Russia (thanks to the Russian Orthodox Church) still used the Julian Calendar, which was 13 days behind the Gregorian Calendar used by the rest of us. Hence, what we call November 7 was actually October 25 (if I have my arithmetic right) for them.
I agree. FreeRepublic is the last place I go to for updates anymore. It's so prehistoric compared to other places of info.
Check out prayingmedic post #615 He decodes the latest Q posts, explaining Sessions, the election "victory", election fraud, Whitaker, etc. Oh, and proof that Q+ is Trump. It's all quite good and gives one a lift.
Other than these Q threads, that is.
Election fraud. It's happening to a large degree in some states but to some degree in every state. Hopefully, the Q team has got the goods on a bunch of them.
I actually enjoy the way FR is organized. It’s about the closest to VAXnotes that I’ve ever found. Understand VAXnotes is about 40 years old but it was damn good. It was a really good way of presenting and especially organizing a forum.
FR isn’t perfect though. Nothing is.
Thanks. Another point about Sessions and why he did all his work in the background while appearing to be doing nothing. Having him appear weak may have been the only way to get him, or for that matter any honest person, confirmed. I think they had to convince the Dems and RINO's that Sessions was somebody who they could control before they would confirm him.
I'm just speculating here, but I think it's very possible that team Trump let slip that Sessions planned to recuse himself from the Russia investigation once confirmed and that the Deputy would be Rosenstein, who was known to be deep state. This may have been the only way to get him confirmed in the first place. Once confirmed the opposition thought they had him neutralized, and both POTUS and Sessions were happy to let them continue to believe so.
Good to know.

In MT I assume it is because of the cities vs. the suburbs and rural areas, much like it is here in MA. I haven’t deep dived on it to find out the make-up of the state and each county within it.
Picked the above up off Twitter.
Arizona - all this stuff is “unofficial” according to the state, so grain of salt required.
Also, undercounts can’t be accounted for.
I started comparing state totals with county totals.
Pinal County (Solid McSally 55-41)
- per state: 101 of 102 precincts reported: 84,460 votes cast as of 11/08/2018 5:24 PM
- per county:102 of 102 precincts reported: 83,945 votes cast for senate race - is it possible 515 didn’t cast a senate vote ?
Per Pinal County November 08, 2018 at 06:26 PM
“We have approx. 25,000 early and 6,800 provisional ballots left to process. We will post another update on 11-09-18.”
Maricopa County (Solid Sinema)
- Per state: 741 of 743 precincts reported: 1,109,977 votes cast. as of 11/08/2018 5:14 PM
- Per county: doesn’t break it down. For Governor, 1109357 votes cast. For Senate 1109977 votes cast. Scratchin my head here, as everywhere else where votes cast on a statewide issue, the count comes to 1109357. Why is the senate more ? Maricopa still has 345k votes to count.
Pima County(Solid Sinema)
- Per state:247 of 249 precincts reported 328,061 votes case as of 11/08/2018 5:54 PM
- Per county: 0 of 249 precincts reported: The rest is the same as state as of 11/08/18 05:39 PM
Yuma County (Solid McSally)
- Per state: 43 of 44 precincts reported 40,238 votes cast as of 11/08/2018 4:10 PM
- Per county:42 of 44 precincts reported 40,238 votes cast
Greenlee County (Solid McSally)
- Per state: 7 of 8 precincts reported 2,599 votes cast as of 11/06/2018 11:23 PM
- Per county: 7 of 8 precincts reported 2,599 votes cast as of 11/06/2018 11:23 PM
I think this seat is gone...
