Doctor Who has seen a dip in ratings since the series, which stars Jodie Whittaker as the first female incarnation of the Time Lord, began in October.
The iconic sci-fi show is now on its fifth episode, and Sunday night's episode The Tsuranaga Conundrum, which received an average of 6.1 million viewers.
In comparison, the season's first outing The Woman Who Fell To Earth had 8.2 million watching, almost double the viewer ratings for last year's opener.

OMG, like this is surprising?
Check out all the stupid “superhero” shows. OMG, disgusting! And kids will watch this! No, it has to have every self-conscious placing of every aggrieved “group”. Women in place of men, homos everywhere (check out Flash’s “daughter” - flirting with a woman) including always a standard character, and blacks.
They are SO pathetically self-conscious in their desperation to appear PC and “inclusive”.
I don’t mind some replacement (preferably addition) with ethnics, but I absolutely draw the line at homos.
Oh, and BTW - once again apparently yellow people don’t count as PC.
“Do the Dr Who is a LGBTXHSOETEMGH(&% (Did I get them all?)”
You forgot P for pedophile
That’s why it’s KDramas for me.
you’re right I did!
LGBTXHSOETEMGH(&% P
My daughter is a BIG Dr Who fan.
She hates the new show.
Indeed, and next week it looks as if they have the British Empire in their sights.
THEY have ruined just about every successful program with PC crap. Used to love Blue Bloods. Won’t even watch it anymore.
Same with Major Crimes. Just ug.
I always hoped they'd go back to a cold war Bond set in the 50's once they'd exhausted the basic formula. But a womanizing, hard-drinking, hard-smoking Bond does not fit into today's PC times. Time to put 007 out to pasture with all the other relics of ages past.
I liked most of the “new” Doctor actors, Eccleston and Tennant being the best. But I liked the Amy & Rory, plus Clara characters, so stayed on through the Matt Smith run, and some of the Capaldi episodes were okay. Until “Bill”arrived with Capaldi, and that’s when I knew PC had taken over. Now the new season (I’ve only read about , not watched, is not for me.)
So now we’re watching the “old” Dr. Who series on Britbox.com.(I had forgotten in the “old” days they were 1/2 hour shows. I heard my husband watching some Tom Baker episodes last night. Since we already know the story line, you can watch separate episodes and don’t have to watch them in sequence.
Also rewatched a lot of Red Dwarf, darn funny in the first few seasons, but lost it’s “funniness” toward the end.
Mostly, these days, we’re into older British mystery series ( and some recent.)
Morse, Lewis, Endeavor, DCI Banks,Foyle’s War are all worth watching...also found Sharpe on Britbox...a period piece...Why do the Brits do TV (at least older TV) so much
better than the US?
Definitely. And it happened way before the Doctor switched genders, but that was the nail in the coffin for me. David Tennett was the last great Doctor. Him and Chris Eccleston are the only ones I’ll watch.
Yep; they ruined it with the PC/SJW crap. Not even worth watching anymore. It’s as bad as “Supergirl” and all the other ‘woke’ crap shows.
I don’t care if the doctor is a man or a woman.
The sheer number of companions, and PC nature of them, is what is crazy. A Middle Eastern woman, who is a lesbian, or bisexual at the least. An African dude. And an old white dude (who by far is the only relatable one of the three (great time to visit the bus drivers! I wonder why that was never in Simon & Simon or Rockford Files, or Magnum PI?).
Also, the show so far has been too much “See, I’m still Doctor Who - come on, keep watching!”
You also have The Master/Missy - they’re the same person. So, it was already done!
Used to love Blue Bloods. Wont even watch it anymore.
Why?
It’s still Duck Dynasty, set in New York (family, guns, law & order, prayer)
Yes but don’t break the canon!
Do a series with a female Time Lord/Lady.
In fact reintroducing some surviving Gallifreians would make for some interesting new plot twists. And Who needs them, the writing is horrible now!
I was pretty much bored after season 7. None of the stories were interesting anymore and they were rehashing too many stories from previous seasons.
I felt uncomfortable when they announced that Matt Smith was gay. They made a big deal at the time that the Doctor was, more or less, bi-sexual, but they had no plans to make it part of any shows going forward.
My uncomfortable-ness ratcheted up when the Peter Capaldi version of the Doctor brought on an openly gay companion. I watched less of the Doctor.
When they announced a female Doctor I thought that it could be brilliant or awful. Brilliant if they played the Doctor as he always had been, but just in a female body. Awful, if they used the female Doctor to advance SJW plots from a “female” point of view. He has been male for 12 or 13 incarnations. Does regenerating as a female change his personality? It would actually make a sort of sense if he were still attracted to females, but there should be an underlying sense of “maleness” to him.
Sadly, they went with the SJW crap.
My wife, who is fairly tolerant of this stuff, now watches about the first 10 minutes, declares “this is stupid”, and goes off to do whatever.
My eldest son, a huge Doctor Who fan, barely made it through Capaldi, but now just hates the show.
This is a case of liberals just not being able to help themselves and preaching the SJW gospel where it isn’t welcome.
That female "Master" crap emerged from the same "diversity" political correctness that is now ruining every other form of entertainment. It was just earlier than this more deliberate in your face effort.
Many of the recovered episodes were restored and are available on Amazon with a Britbox subscription ($7 month) with seven day free trail.
