Any Michigan Freepers care to comment? Dad and I are sitting here watching videos of John James and can't fathom why Trump wouldn't go there. Sorry for the vanity!
I think one can only surmise that they believe James doesn’t have much of a chance. Whether that is right or wrong we will find out today.
Perhaps the polls show Stabenow very far ahead.
Good question. Companion question is why he did the rally in Tennessee. The answer to both is that weeks ago when these rallies were planned, Michigan didn’t look winnable, and Tennessee looked like it was in danger. Now Michigan looks possible, while Blackburn would probably win in Tennessee by 5-7 points without Trump coming. Even the President can be gaslighted by the media.
He needs to Minnesota and Michigan hard next time from beginning to end. Also maybe swing house race locations.
I agree. Would be awesome to see James win, but he was extremely far back. Trump spent time in areas that need big republican turnout in close races.
Possibly Michigan was being taken with stealth?
idk
Me too, he is a brilliant man and exactly the sort of character Repubs need in the Senate.
The POTUS, Donald J. Trump supports and has fully endorsed John James for the Senate in Michigan...100%. There were many opportunities, such as California (Governor), Michigan (Jones), Minnesota (Senate & House), New Jersey (Menendez defeat), Mississippi (Senate runoff), etc., but...the POTUS can only carry so much coverage. Am hoping & praying all our good GOP folks do well today!!!
Prayers. Also that dumb reporter caught on tape saying wretched things about him on his voice mail.
Or that Trump would not help who they are hoping could push James over the top, given the difficulty some blacks have with Rat backlash?
He did come in April.
Don’t you think that people in Michigan saw those rallies in nearby states?
I think James has a great shot at winning.
PDJT needed to go where he could be sure to fill the area and where his security could be assured. Really, would you trust the venue in Detroit to not explode, literally like from a bomb, if Trump appeared there given the amount of hate the left exhibits?
He is doing well considering he is starting his political career running for Senate. That is pretty ambitious no matter who you are. But look what a difference the BSM makes. They CREATED Robert ORourke. But Texas was a bad place for a NYC transplant. Native stuff has a hard time growing in Texas, transplanted weeds dont stand a chance.

Trump makes the call: Republicans Schuette, John James are ‘Trump guys’
Leonard N. Fleming, The Detroit News Published 11:48 a.m. ET Aug. 6, 2018
President Donald Trump has backed up his endorsements by making a robo call for Republican U.S. Senate hopeful John James and gubernatorial candidate Bill Schuette, calling them “Trump guys.”
The robo call from the president went out Monday morning to Republican voters and follows the president’s tweet last week when to praised James, a Farmington Hills businessman, over Grosse Pointe financier and GOP opponent Sandy Pensler. It also comes a day before Tuesday’s primary election.
Schuette, the two-termed state attorney general, has stuck close to the president, visiting him recently at the White House and showing his strong support for his policies.
“I need you to vote for both, they are very important to our great agenda,” Trump said in the call. “John James is truly the real deal, he will be a star. John is a West Point grad, who served in Iraqi Freedom and came home to Michigan to run a small business and create jobs.
“Hes already served his country oversees and now we need him serving us in the senate because Debbie Stabenow has been a complete and total disaster for Michigan she votes against everything that we dont want.”
Trump called Stabenow “weak on the border, weak on crime, doesnt go for the military in anyway shape or form and our vets really need much better health than she can provide.” The 66-year-old Lansing Democrat is running for a third term.
Schuette, the president said, is going to be a great governor “because if you look at him and all he’s done it’s been amazing.” Michigan’s attorney general has been touting his experience that has included being a member of Congress, a state appeals judge and a state senator.
“Hes sued the Obama administration to protect Michigan workers and Ive been working with Bill, right here in the White House, to stop human trafficking and so many other things,” Trump said on the call.
“Hes always there for the people of Michigan. Bill Schuette is a real conservative and hes Michigan tough, we need him to be your next governor.”
Schuette faces Lt. Gov. Brian Calley, who is endorsed by Gov. Rick Snyder, as well as state Sen. Pat Colbeck of Canton Township and Saginaw obstetrician Jim Hines.
He goes where he will do the most good. There are lots of Trump supporters in MI but there are also a lot who are not. Im keeping my fingers crossed for James.
Here's what I've gleaned from talking to everyone I can (from candidates, staff at all levels, experienced volunteers (like myself) and even college kids: Trump & crew had to decide between saving the House or picking up a few Senate seats.
He's chosen correctly, I believe, even though I know John James would make a great Senator. I confess to not doing enough for "JJ", but health and age have slowed me down.
Good question. I wondered the same thing. It seemed odd since MI, PA, OH, WI were the swing states in 2016 and MN was close.
Not from MI, but James was closing fast. I hope he wins - if he does, I can def see him as potential Presidential material.
Probably because after the 2016 forced recount of MI we all saw just how easy it is to cheat. His election probe across the country was to identify the worst offenders to save resources in the future.
