I propose making a drive from a series of solar panels, a cone with an LED array at the apex, and an open end at the other. The star radiation ( light) gathered by the panels will provide limitless but modest power to the LEDs, they in turn will last many hundreds of thousands of years in the cool of space. The emitted light will provide thrust to the vehicle and will slowly increase velocity until it is travelling at tremendous speed. Of course, it will be the size of a grain of rice. DARPA, will you grant me about $168k ( the cost of my mortgage and a few other small debts, plus a car) to build and demonstrate it?

You can actually move a car, or get it to bounce or rock slightly if you rock back and forth in the back seat hitting the seat back with each oscillation.
But, you have to have intermittent, not steady pressure.
This appears to be the same thing. The trick is that the microwaves would be acting like, for lack of a better analogy, someone firing a pistol into a trap on the from of the car. The bullet could, if it had enough kinetic energy, transfer energy to the trap and move the vehicle. With a pistol that energy would be balanced by the recoil.
The microwave generator has no recoil.

At an annual conference regarding just this material I believe last year, 2 of the top researchers on this question were asked what problems they might encounter if they finally are able to propel something other than a proton and an electron (because of the gamma principle) at the speed of light or close to it.
The answer? Dust.
At that speed, there is no material, no steel strong enough that would stop little microscopic specs of dust from piercing the hull of a ship.
Long story short, you would be impaled by microscopic pieces of dust that would fly right through you, piercing every square inch of you body, all of your organs, veins and arteries almost instantaneously, and you’d essentially disintegrate.

Someone needs to invent a Spindizzy interstellar drive.
If the investment is good enough but prudent enough, the result may wind up proving the EMdrive will not work, while still making some useful discoveries along the way, that could apply to space vehicle propulsion or some unrelated matter. That is what good science does many times. Unexpected results and even accidents sometimes make for scientific revelations.
