Wrong - twice over:
1) Twitter is spared because Twitter - like Facebook and Youtube - is dedicated to censoring conservative voices. Gab is dedicated to giving those voices a platform.
2) Gab claiming to be open to conservatives does not equal Gab claiming to be solely dedicated to conservatives.

Actually, it cannot be proven they didn’t in Charlottesville, since Spencer is actually a Leftist.
What bothers me about some key events is what I DIDN’T see. The van left for several minutes at the Charlottesville intersection, while the police stood down as someone somehow funneled ‘protestors’ down that particular street.

Not correct. Early on they were claiming this was where Conservatives could have free speech that they could not have at Twitter, that is why I joined. Unfortunately FREE speech also included anti-Jewish HATE speech, which became prevalent. I’m not Jewish, but this went over the line for me and I left. Perhaps some feel HATE speech is FREE speech. I do not.
I would speculate tha Twitter trolls used Gab’s “free speech” meme to take down its competition pouring the poison of hate speech into the free speech meme. It worked.
Probably so, but it would also cause to disappear any speech that challenges the dominant orthodoxy. It would take a brave person to say things for which they might be retaliated, for example, that there are only two sexes and people who think they are the opposite sex are not only wrong, but have a mental issue of some sort.
We'd be better for that. If you can't put your name on it, share it where your own family, friends, and employers can see it, be responsible and accountable, then you probably shouldn't be writing or doing it.
I notice most people on Free Republic use an alias to write their opinions. I think many fear retaliation if their opinions can be tracked back to them.
I'm pretty sure it can cost some people their jobs if people learn who they are and what opinions they have. The left routinely tries to "Pick a Target, Freeze It, Personalize It and Polarize It."
I am not on Gab because I don't do that sort of social media stuff, but I read commentary from a lot of people who are, and they say you have to get your filters set up and then the site is not too bad.
Yes, the anti-semites are out there, and is it better to keep them hidden, or let them come out where people can see them?
I had a black friend in high school who said that he would rather know about the racists than to have them remain hidden from his view. If he knows about them, he can either avoid them or deal with them appropriately.
For what it's worth, I read a lot of other sites, and I see quite a few people who I regard as subtle anti-semites who mostly keep their perverse opinions under control. I think Gab will improve the more normal people join and start posting there. I heard it cracked half a million users about a month ago.
In any case, it's getting so bad out there that some conservatives are advocating having accounts hosted by porn websites just to remain on the internet. Whatever we do, we need to maintain some means of communication with the larger society, and I think we need to use whatever tools are necessary to accomplish this.
And that is a possibility. Leftists often use false flag tricks to attempt to destroy people they don't like. Remember all the people with racist signs that would show up at Tea Party rallies? At least the Tea Party had the good sense to run them off, when they noticed them.

That is your perception not reality. Conservatives that had been censored by Twitter were welcome there, but it wasn’t set up as a conservative web site, just a free speech site. I’ve been on sites for years that had anti-Semitic or other hate speech, but I just ignored it. Speech shouldn’t be censored unless it is a direct threat or incitement to violence.
