Patrick Rooney of PRRooney.com discusses the de-platforming of Gab after the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
The Rule of Law is there to take the edge off that. But today the rule of law is a joke.
Didn’t know about Gab...
Now I want Gab... just because...
I think a bit of this is needed reset. Personally, anonymity breeds the hate, intimidation, bullying, and violence we see too much of on the Internet. I've always figured if people had to put their name on their writings and all, 99% of the garbage would disappear. We'd be better for that. If you can't put your name on it, share it where your own family, friends, and employers can see it, be responsible and accountable, then you probably shouldn't be writing or doing it.
The USA is independent in part due to anonymous press.
No, we are and have remained independent due to the strength of our individual character, our morals, ethics, our individual character. There may be times and places where anonymity is required, but overall no. It is too often misused.
Because Twitter & Facebook are Hate Sites.
They allowed conservatives free speech, unlike Twitter. They also allowed all free speech, which users were allowed to ignore.
Twitter decides what people can see, Gab lets people decide what they want to see.
Research “Publius”.
I have to confess I am shocked at seeing such overt and severe anti-liberty positions professed on FR as I have seen you profess over this issue.
By the negative feedback you are receiving from others as well, I can see I am not the only one with this concern.
You just contradicted your argument: it’s ok to shut down Gab, because it had a bad apple. But oh no Lifesite censorship! Can’t have it both ways. 1A doesn’t guarantee insulation from being offended.
You must not see much social media. 99% of users post under their own names. Shame has not made them embrace anonymity
It is not anti-liberty to say all of this. Not at all.
Yet without the option of anonymity, valuable speech can be suppressed through intimidation.
Witness the addiction to doxxing and stalking by Antifa - this is a real-world concern.
Want to be stalked and harassed just because you issued a non-Leftist opinion online... assuming you have any? Your family threatened? Calls into your job? SWATting? These are the kinds of things Antifa does out of spite to destroy political opposition.
Without anonymity conservative ideas would be much harder to come by in the leftist-dominated digital environment we live in.
Pay no attention to the leftist troll.

Your Gab comments were very contrary to free speech (Which we freedom lovers don’t necessarily like or approve of but we defend the right of others to express their thoughts.) Numerous posters and I attempted to address this stuff on other threads. And regarding gab porn? Don’t go there...Gab is not a porn site—and many notable conservatives (even FREEPERS) have accounts there).
And now the PC culture is expanding their PC bullying and has moved to banning PROLIFE groups who dared to violate political correctness). I seem to recall reading that you find that prolife story slightly concerning...Who will be next??
Yet, from what I read, you want to go all Chinese and have each poster on any thread or site identified with their name and who knows what other identifiers...
Well, I have some questions, and your answers might help me understand your position:
1. We just got thru 8 years of Obama reign where many government agencies such as IRS and DOJ were targeting conservatives/TeaParty, Christians, republicans, Vets, Second Amendment supporters, etc. In Missouri they were tracking cars with Ron Paul (a Republican) bumper stickers...So just why would anyone who loves Freedom and Liberty want to publish their name with the threat of persecution by the government?
2. Why do you think we have ANONYMOUS VOTING??? Do you think we should also provide our names for that?
3. What do you think about people who have identified themselves and then been fired for posting politically incorrect views—like the executive at Campbell’s Soup?
4. Most interestingly, why do YOU NOT POST YOUR FULL NAME and have your location on FR?
No, IMHO, we would not be better if people had to include their name...There are crazy stalkers out there in addition to bitter government employees who would seek to use our identification against us...Heck Trump supporters don’t want to put bumper stickers on their cars for fear of tire slashing...
Why would any Freedom-loving person want to lose their right to what little anonymity and privacy they have left?
You don't have the slightest clue. You think that only worthy (according to Reno*) speech must be free. You are mistaken, moron!
Free speech must be just that. If the Nazis are not free to march through Skokie, then speech is not free.
And F the ACLU, by the way!
Oh and here is explanation of the new tactic of the left...SWATing conservative websites like PROLIFE ones...The bullying is coming from the hosts, not the posts.
