Lindon Crow, the former NFL defensive back who had three interceptions in the 1958 sudden-death NFL championship dubbed "the greatest game ever played," has died. He was 85.
He died Thursday in Exeter, California, due to complications from a series of strokes, the University of Southern California said Friday.
Crow led the NFL in interceptions with 11 in 1956 and had 41 picks in his pro career. He played defensive back for the Cardinals from 1955 to '57, New York Giants from 1958 to '60, and Los Angeles Rams from 1961 to '64.

‘Lindon Crow’
I remember him well with the Giants, on those late ‘50 teams with Frank Gifford, Charley Conerly and Alex Webster...and old coach Jim Lee Howell...

Wasn’t Tom Landry the defensive player coach for the Giants those years too?

Lindon was my Uncle. I last saw him about four years ago after my Father had suffered a minor stroke. He came down from the Central Valley with his Wife to visit his Children and Grand Children in So Cal. and made a side trip to visit my Dad in Rancho Bernardo. (San Diego) He and his wife looked great, we had a nice lunch together. Not too many months later he suffered a significant stroke as well. Unfortunately the last three years have been a downward spiral. His Wife is a saint for all she did for Lindon during this difficult time

Players in that era were exceptionally tough by today’s standards. Nobody made a lot of money. Heck I remember one former Colt player’s wife mentioning that 2 other Colts helped her husband lay a new kitchen floor — and 1 of them was John Unitas. That was also a period when players actually lived in the cities they played for.

hidden nugget: Johnny Unitas threw 3 interceptions that day and STILL won the game.

Re:
remember watching the game live on TV So do I. We lived in Bellaire, Texas, (surrounded by Houston) and I was going to John J. Pershing Junior High as my beloved 'High Tops' Johnny U. quarterbacked Colts trashed those cursed New York Giants!

Remember watching Gino Marschetti, “big Daddy” Lipscomb, Art Donovan, Ray Berry, Alan Ameche and Unitas. The Colts were my favorites until the Dallas Texans moved to KC. Losing to the Colts in the playoffs in 1995, 2003, 2006 and 2013 has dulled any fond memories.
