Two National Football League stars on opposing teams had to be separated before a game on Sunday over long-simmering tensions related to the national anthem protests as Colin Kaepernick weighed in on the side of an old ally. The incident between Eric Reid of the Carolina Panthers and Malcolm Jenkins of the Philadelphia Eagles took place before the start of the teams Week 7 matchup at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sunday. As teams do every week, members of the Eagles and Panthers began congregating at midfield for the ceremonial coin flip to determine which team receives the ball to start the game. But television cameras zoomed in to an apparent scuffle that broke out nearby.

All. About. The. Money.
A very apt comparison.
This guys job is to play football, he seems to forget that.
You nailed it.
The Eagles folded in the fourth quarter of the actual game and lost in a lackluster performance, 21-17 - Jeffrey Lurie, team owner, had said that in hiring his new manager a few years back, he was looking for someone with “emotional IQ” as well as football skills - that manager, Doug Peterson, said after the game today that he had told his players that “the pressure is off of us - no one expects us to do that much any more” - he was apparently trying to protect the feelings of his players, but drew outrage from various commentators who interpreted his comments as a sign of giving up on the season - as one guy put it: “it comes time to stop powdered your players’ rearends and start kicking them” - could be all the emphasis on looking after the players’ needs and feelings and values is starting to get in the way of their doing their job - real professionals put aside their own concerns and dedicate themselves to doing what has to be done - time for the NFL to get on board.....
I hope it tears the NFL apart. I am over watching the games and have no trouble at all spending Sunday afternoons now doing other things.
A sellout because he doesn’t kneel...hey Reid...try football in North Korea...or Zambabwe...you might be happier there....
Why are you still going to games and supporting the NFL?
Our parish just hosted a young vibrant priest from Uganda as a part of his mission to raise awareness (and maybe a little money) of Christianity in Africa. When speaking with our teens, he remarked: “First of all, you live in paradise”. He went on to describe the fact that clean water was a 5 km walk for him in his village. Needless to say, I wish I could have gotten him to speak to the NFL and let these spoiled players place their passion in a cause where it would make a difference to people that are truly in need. Let’s start with water....
He then started saying we should put Foles back in...and it warmed my bones to hear him talking like a Philadelphia fan...slash and burn armchair coaching!
Jenkins has generally been better behaved this season. If he's taking flack from other protesting players then he MUST be doing something right.
“First of all, you live in paradise
Yes.
People can’t even see it and live to be unhappy and angry.
Great reply. One of my first “lessons” when teaching our teens at church is they live in a “take it for granted” culture which leads to that unhappiness and angry attitude you mention. Many of the kids get it eventually. Uphill battle for sure! God bless.
The only saving grace is the NFC East is a disaster and maybe they can still win the division if there is a miracle. But if they don't this year, maybe someone will put together a meme of Trump hitting a golf ball that clocks Jenkins in the head.
