This is EVERYTHING TRUMP.
Administration, family, frustrations, joys, winning!
We welcome your research, your commentary,
your personal OT sharing and your presence.
Even if you do not share a lot, just check in and say hi.
Lurkers are welcome.

Pres Trump shares East Room stage with Sergeant Major John L Canley, USMC (Ret.), recipient of today's Medal of Honor, for conspicuous valor under fire, coming to the aid of fellow Marines, in 1968 during the Vietnam War.

During the Tet Offensive in Vietnam, Sgt Major Canley "risked his own life to save the lives of those under his command," said Pres Trump, recounting Canley's bravery meriting the Medal of Honor.

"You don't look 80 years old to me," Pres tells Sgt Major Canley, commenting on the fitness of the retired Marine.

Good question. They’re even tough to find at a lot of supermarkets.

I’ll be editing the naughty bits out of the book, for sure!

I hope so!

“Not to be a party pooper, but, IIRC (from my DDad)....peanuts are bad for gout.”
*sigh*
yes, you are right, they are!
I just HAD to have some today, though.
I know I have been goofing around here tonight, but
truthfully, I feel like crap.
But I am determined to have some fun for tonight.

Mmmmm!! I am a soup lover and have several fall/winter soups/stew recipes, that we enjoy.

I will add your recipe to my collection. Looks wonderful!!

I especially love making YUGE batches, and freezing smaller serving amounts - for hubby and I, or company - throughout the colder months.

It's from the recipe book of my late mother. When she passed in 2002, I inherited her book, which had recipes nearly a century old. She grew up in South Philadelphia back when it was an immigrant staging area with people from Italy and various nations of eastern Europe living among each other. Her book had recipes from her mother's Neapolitan side and my father's Sicilian side, along with dishes from eastern European nations.

I edited her book, turned it into a Word document and sent it to my cousins as a gift.

Cornbread is not part of my Italian tradition. When Italians use cornmeal, it’s polenta.

What an amazing gift....that she left to you, and...that you then turned into a treasured cookbook, for your cousins.

I can only imagine what reading those recipes must be like. (My sis and I are nerds who like to read cookbooks together, at our retreats. We pore over every ingredient, step and picture :) Your mom (and her family) come back to life, with every recipe and page. The same happens to me, when I read my grandmother’s recipes. She was a wonderful southern cook. The history, the stories, the love...in each recipe.

Again...thanks so much for sharing your soup recipe. Buon Appetito!!

Here is another stew that freezes well and is perfect for the winter. It's from the Sicilian side of the family.

SICILIAN COD STEW

cod (preferably fresh, but frozen will do)
1/4 medium onion
1/2 stalk celery
2 tbsp oil
large can tomatoes
2 medium potatoes
Sicilian green olives
capers
pepper
pinch sugar

Slice the celery and onion, and place in a heavy skillet with oil. Saute for 10 minutes.

Peel, quarter and par-boil the potatoes.

Run the tomatoes through blender for a few seconds to break them up. No more than that.

Add the potatoes and tomatoes, and sprinkle with the spices. Cover and cook for 15 minutes. Add the cod, olives and capers, and cover the fish with the mixture. Cook until the potatoes are soft.

(Note that the potatoes are the clock for this recipe.)

Hey!
Hubby just showed me on the Q thread, that the President has called the Troops to the border.
There are battalions and sustainment units, etc.
I don’t know what is going on..
Some Troops from Fort Hood..
Let me see what more I can find out!

Many of the recipes came from both grandmothers, Neapolitan and Sicilian, and those recipes are over a century old.
