Why does everybody have to pronounce judgment. Why can’t they just say wow, that’s a mind blowing concept. If true, it would explain a lot, and go on about their day. We know the classification system means the government has a lot that we don’t know about. Why NOT this?

The difference in the concussive waves is likely because the aft turret fired a fraction of a second before the forward turrets.

FWIW - firing a full broadside does NOT move the ship sideways as is commonly thought. The mass of the ship and the surface are of the sides are too great for that. The ships have a gross tonnage of 54,890 tonnes (long tons). The broadside is only about 18 tonnes.

Actually pitch is a greater problem than roll. The same is true of aircraft carriers.

As you approach the bow, the vertical motion can be in excess of 45 feet. Imagine trying to walk while yo-yoing four stories every 90 seconds in addition to any roll.

The higher you are on the ship the greater the perceived effect of roll. At the height of the Fire control director that can be a lateral motion of 80-90 feet per roll.
