Red Sox beat Yankees, advance to ALCS
Boton Herald ^ | 10 Oct 18 | Jason Mastrodonato

There was no debating the better team all year, and there was no debating the better team in this series.

The 108-win Red Sox entered the postseason with more questions than the SATs while the Wild Card Yankees looked like a team nobody wanted to face this October.

And yet it was the Sox who looked like juggernauts by the time the American League Division Series was over at Yankee Stadium late Tuesday night.

Rick Porcello earned his first win in a playoff start, Christian Vazquez hit his first home run since June 26 and Chris Sale pitched out of relief in a bizarro Game 4 win, 4-3, that secured the Red Sox’ first playoff series win since 2013.

Just pointing out what I observed last night. Red Sox Fans moving inside and outside Yankee Stadium wearing their bright red garb, none of them being assaulted. Just some yelling back and forth.

My husband and I have had all kinds of expletives hurled at us by drunken Yankee fans both inside Yankee Stadium, and while walking to our car in the parking garage after games. And we did *not* provoke any of these fans. My husband and I have never hurled any expletives at Yankee fans while at Fenway or anywhere else.

I don't doubt you.

Did they identify you as Red Sox fans by something that you were wearing?

Reversing the roles, I wouldn't even think of wearing Yankee stuff at a Red Sox game.

My point being there's not a dimes worth of difference between the bad behavior of the two teams' fans.

“Hilary was NEVER a real Yankees fan”

I could never imagine her as a baseball fan, or any sport for that matter. She couldn’t grasp the concept of a sacrifice bunt for one thing

She obviously didn’t understand strike 3 when it blew past her.

Yes, we were wearing Red Sox jerseys and hats, but we didn't provoke anybody. The last few times we went to Yankee Stadium, I wore something red, but nothing identifying myself as a Red Sox fan.

Reversing the roles, I wouldn't even think of wearing Yankee stuff at a Red Sox game.

My point being there's not a dimes worth of difference between the bad behavior of the two teams' fans.

Fair enough. You're right.

I love your profile page, btw. Very nice. :-)

“Houston must be sweating buckets because they have to face a BRAND NEW Red Soxs!”

The Red Sox’ pitching (new or otherwise) is VERY shaky. They are going to need about 24 innings from Sale to hang on (if his arm doesn’t fall off). With Verlander, Cole, Keuchel and Morton stacked up, along with a deeper bullpen, Houston should be able to hold down the Red Sox enough to outscore them. My money would go there.

It was absolutely INSANE that she even thought that she could get away with that LIE; however, she's obviously been a PATHOLOGICAL LIAR all of her life.

But then, when Bloomberg ran for mayor, as a GOPer, no less, the MSM didn't bat an eye. Yeah, sure, the guy from Mass., who was a life long DEM, all of a sudden is a hearty GOPer. :-(

Then he ran as an Independent, the second time...all the while being a damned lefty DEM.

LOL...good one!

As a life long baseball baseball fan, I just can't see her being all that interested in baseball, myself. Fro what we know about her and her childhood, she has ALWAYS just been interested in herself.

I still say that Boston is going to settle accounts with Houston. They have not forgotten. New York was a warm-up. Plus they will be home.

I am super proud of my Springer game worn jersey and my signed pic of him.

Can you tell I’m a GS fan???? :-)

I have been a fan of his, since his first game with the team.

I think that most of the odds makers are in agreement with you, regarding the formidable Astros.

If we can we back to back WS....it will be a well earned and well deserved (early) Christmas miracle ;-)

Could the defeat of New York be a warning message to Houston?

Correction: They will not know what hit them (Houston).

rofl, no, it was simply the defeat of the Yankees.

I’m a lifelong huge Red Sox fan, but it is just silly to underestimate the Astros. It should be a tough, hard-fought series, and the Astros are not quaking over any “warning message.”

Both of these teams have a ton of respect for each other, but neither is intimidated, either.

And while Alex Cora was the bench coach for Houston last year, that is not going to give the Sox some “secret sauce” to guarantee victory. They will have to fight for it on the field.

You have to realize that “biggirl” doesn’t know anything about baseball.

I’m a lifelong Red Sox fan, since before the “Miracle Year” of 1967, but I don’t underestimate the Astros.

Yes, the Red Sox bullpen makes me very nervous. Kimbrel nearly pissed the game away last night, and there are hardly any good, consistent arms there. I’m hopeful for my Red Sox, but I expect the Astros to give us a fierce battle and Astros pitching may win out.
