There was no debating the better team all year, and there was no debating the better team in this series.
The 108-win Red Sox entered the postseason with more questions than the SATs while the Wild Card Yankees looked like a team nobody wanted to face this October.
And yet it was the Sox who looked like juggernauts by the time the American League Division Series was over at Yankee Stadium late Tuesday night.
Rick Porcello earned his first win in a playoff start, Christian Vazquez hit his first home run since June 26 and Chris Sale pitched out of relief in a bizarro Game 4 win, 4-3, that secured the Red Sox first playoff series win since 2013.

Correction :head manager.
It was just crazy that Shrillary got away with claiming during the 2000 Senate (carpetbagger) campaign that she had always been a Yankees fan (growing up as a little girl in Illinois). yeah, right, sure.... especially since there was not a hint of a shred of evidence that she had ever been any kind of sports fan at all or had any prior affinity for the Yankees.
Pure dishonest political pandering, and the MSM and electorate in NY let her get away with it.
Cora’s been a great surprise. I never expected he’d do so well as a rookie manager.
Great CURSE breaking photo!
It's what Kimbrel does. He is 'off' more than he is 'on'. A lot more. His fastball is the only reason he is still in the 'pen. He needs to work on his control, obviously. It's almost like he's aiming his pitches.
Go Astro's!
What side was Angel Hernandez rooting for?
If we get a Red Sox versus Dodgers World Series, the sometimes-questionable Dodgers pitching could cost the Dodgers the World Series.
My two favorite teams ... the Indians ... and whoever plays the Yankees.
Was watching “Boston EMS” yesterday on Discovery Health channel. They picked up a New Yorker who’d been involved in a car accident in the Ted Williams Tunnel.
When the EMS crew discovered that he was from NYC they asked him about the Yankees. Realizing what city he was in and who was taking care of him, he wisely said “Uh, I’m a fisherman kinda guy”, LOL.
However, he shared with them how he had assisted during 9/11 and showed them pics of him working with the first responders.
He’d suffered some back injuries during the accident and they brought him to the ER.
Yeah that was scary. And with the question of that last out having to be reviewed.
Well obviously I was outside the Stadium both before and after the game. I didn't see any Red Sox fans being attacked. And there's always verbal jousting whether you're at Fenway or Yankee Stadium.
My advice to Red Sox fans going to Yankee Stadium. Avoid the tops of Metro North Trains. You can get electrocuted.
Well, lucky you. I've seen it many times over the past 20+ years attending games in both the old and the new Yankee Stadiums.
And there's always verbal jousting whether you're at Fenway or Yankee Stadium.
Yes, that's true... in both ballparks.
My husband and I have had all kinds of expletives hurled at us by drunken Yankee fans both inside Yankee Stadium, and while walking to our car in the parking garage after games. And we did *not* provoke any of these fans.
My husband and I have never hurled any expletives at Yankee fans while at Fenway or anywhere else.
Yes, George is from New Britain, Connecticut, I think. He has a big following up here in CT. I was so happy for him last year when the Astros won the WS! :-)
I'm worried about Boston's bullpen... The sports talk show guys on WEEI call it the "Blow-Pen". Let's just say I'm not surprised Alex Cora used Chris Sale in the 8th last night.
But if the Red Soxs can settle accounts with the Yankees, and the Bronx Zoo, their stadium, which is never an easy place to beat the Yankees, then the Red Soxs, will have a few extra days to get ready to settle accounts with Houston Astros.
All my son does is complain about Boston’s pitching.
.
Look for all hands on deck.
What a difference a year makes.
