On Friday morning, Senator Susan Collins of Maine said that she would declare later that afternoon whether she would confirm or oppose the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. For the women who opposed Judge Kavanaugh, many of whom had traveled to Washington from all over the country, her decision was their last hope. By 2:30 p.m., half an hour before she was due to announce her decision, Collinss office on the fourth floor of the Dirksen Senate building was filled with protesters, most of them women, and members of the press.
The crowd was overflowing into the halls and stretching close to the entire length of the building. The women began quietly to sing the civil rights anthem We Shall Overcome.
When Collins began speaking in the Senate, they fell silent. A woman held a phone to her ear and relayed the remarks word for word to the crowd. Collinss statement was hardly spontaneous. It was measured and deliberate. As it became clear that she was going to support the nomination, people began screaming at the television. Youre done, one woman shouted.
By the time I arrived in the grand, sunlit atrium of the Hart Senate Building where much of the opposition energy had been focused these past two weeks, the mood was entirely somber. Collins had just ended her nearly 45-minute statement with a vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh. The lines sung by the women outside Collinss office still rang in my mind:
We shall overcome. Were on to victory. The truth shall make us free. Someday.

Completely biased article, as you would expect from the nyt. The civil rights thing is not an anthem.
What is it about holding a piece of cardboard with words written on it that attracts so many photographers? What is it about them that makes them worthy of our attention?
Hysterics should not be allowed to vote.
I was too young to realize what a handsome, Irish face he had! Hope he was R.
Linsey Graham Stayin Alive, the best post all week! And look how many other unlikely things weve seen lately: (1) The Republicans growing a spine, (2) The GOPe, the never Trumpers, and our president all united, (3) the most uncorked, over the top, unrestrained, coordinated, Democratic smear campaign, with a cast of thousands, including women and children, utterly deflated and defeated, and finally, (4) The ascension of Lindsay Graham to the status of a rock star. I would never believe #4 was possible, if I hadnt seen myself. It all just goes to show what could never happen so long as McCain was still alive.
Is this a great country or what?
I talked to an abuse victim this weekend whose opinion has changed in a week. she is 29 years old and finds it hard to believe that CBF could go almost 40 years without telling this event to anyone. IT IS A VERY common experience especially for someone who has been in college for decades. She believes that women share these types of experiences to help and heal. If CBF didnt tell anyone like a friend or another victim. That just didnt ring true to this women.
Maybe she meant CHECKS from SOROS and the BALANCES of HER BANK ACCOUNTS.
And this, liberal ladies, is why previous generations of men were leery of allowing women political power, autonomy and even custody of children. This backsliding is not helping.
I’m old enough to remember when WOMEN acted like GROWN ADULTS and not little kids who’ve just been told that it is raining and so there will be no recess.
Typically they’re all ugly and brain dead.....
Vaginas make it impossible to tell a lie. Doesnt everyone know that?
Have you ever heard of Photoshop?
There's a thread for that:
Whitefield officials dealing with huge feral cat problem
Someone needs to unite these whining women with their true charitable calling: cat rescue.
Yes...heard of Photoshop...but, it’s like satire...it COULD be true!
Let's go back a little further.
"I wouldn't lie to you."
D@MN...that‘s just nasty.
Photoshop.
Photoshop.
Honestly I was hoping that she would not pull a Comey and say in the end she would vote no.
POTUS really needs to start transferring as many Federal agencies as possible out of DC. If you walk the streets there you can smell the group think and hear the echo chamber. Send a bunch of them to Murkowski’s district. Let the little snowflakes deal with some real snow flakes!!
