Most people on the thread are aware of the red scarf "Suicides". They have a sad association and we hope they stop.
Until today I have associated Red doors primarily with Christian Churches, Episcopalian and Lutheran. As the color of fire it is associated with the Holy Spirit and purification.
Interestingly, this is the First time I have heard of red door with a paid off mortgage. (Maybe Jocko can speak to that?:)
I don’t know if it’s everywhere but here if a door is suddenly painted red, it means the house is for sale.
My goodness! I Wander in from a misspent day of toil and you have ransacked the Internet of its red doors and brought their symbolism here for us to observe!

ROFL! I’m glad you liked seeing red with me! I had not known that about the Scottish mortgages either.
You make a great point. I hope the red scarf nonsense halts as well. I think we are all thoroughly ready to wave goodbye to all the over the top crazies running the asylum.
I do know that at Chinese New Years, Chinese typically glue red paper strips over the lintel and on both sides of the door reminding one of the JEWISH PASSOVER. That's about the extend of my awareness of such things. Thanks for the honor of your question.
