After this weeks devastating hearings involving Christine Blassey Ford, who testified that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in the 80s, we werent sure what SNL would roll out of the gate with.
Over the last few years, SNL has been an Emmy winning satire on the state of American politics, but sometimes laughter isnt enough. When it calls for it, Saturday Night Live doesnt hesitate to ditch the traditional cold open to address the issues of the week. When the Las Vegas shooting happened, the show opened with James Aldean performing a tribute. Following Donald Trumps election, the show opened with Kate McKinnon in character as Hillary Clinton singing a song of mourning and hope to a country in pain.
As much as this week wasnt something to laugh about, SNL tried its best to make sense of things. Matt Damon appeared as the latest big name celebrity to portray someone making headlines thanks to Trumps America. He played Brett Kavanaugh, and did so with hilarity and biting wit from the writing team.

Oh, hello Matt Damon #KavanaughHearings #SNL

My god. SNL got Matt Damon to play Kavanaugh.
Among the highlights were Kavanaugh coming out yelling, saying he wouldnt back off because he doesnt understand the meaning of no and digs at his endless mentions of beer. There were jokes about his virginity, the calendar he brought, and his yearbook. The thing about all of this is that it was funny, but it doesnt change anything. The chances that Kavanaugh is getting confirmed remains pretty high and no amount of laughter is going to ease the pain of all the danger that could ensue.
If there was a highlight, it was Kate McKinnon per usual debuting her Lindsey Graham impression.

Not even that, however, was enough to make us forget that right now most of the country is hurting worse than ever, and theres a sense of hopelessness in the air. We typically rely on Saturday Night Live to throw the jabs we need to see but how can we laugh when things are even worse than they were when the show signed off over the summer?
Wow.
I remember seeing TV ads for the very 1st episode of SNL. George Carlin was the host. He HATED political correctness.
SNL is full frontal, out of the closet anti-American. Has been for many years now
I’m glad the writer didn’t have an axe to grind or was taking sides on the issue. Impartial, is what I guess I’m saying.

Now we know what this week has been about all along. The Left’s deflection of THEIR culture of rape and sexual misconduct.
I can remember when SNL was worth watching, and was actually hilariously funny.
SNL: Hate TV.
I remember a hundred years ago I would never miss SNL, followed by Monty Python...
I haven’t actually watched it in very nearly a hundred years now. They went off the rails a long time ago.
Exactly. The left is always projecting.
What a dick.
Matt Damon, who defended Weinstein, played Brett Kavanaugh on SNL. Unbelievable.

Unbelievable, indeed. I wish folks would tweet him/SNL about THAT.
And, this....
...Not even that, however, was enough to make us forget that right now most of the country is hurting worse than ever, and theres a sense of hopelessness in the air.

No, a-hole (writer) that was the past decade....when businesses and conservatives were targeted by their own govt and the Socialist in Chief was hellbent on destroying this country. That was the the malaise, during 0bama’s era.
Impartial would have involved a Ford character as a high pitched voice girl scout with a fear of flying unless it was for a vacation naming four witnesses who have no idea what she’s talking about and blaming her need for counseling on her need for a second front door to deal with claustrophobia.
That would be funny.
As your pay increases and your taxes decrease and your stock prices are hitting new highs. You are insane!
"Matt Damon!"
These people are sick
Matt Demon.
Isn’t he a member of the Film Actors’ Guild?
I always thought he was saying Matt Gaymon. Not kidding.
