Clemson senior quarterback Kelly Bryant says he is transferring from the school, just days after coach Dabo Swinney announced that freshman Trevor Lawrence would be the starting quarterback for Saturday's game against Syracuse.
Bryant started the first four games of the season, but his fate was sealed when Lawrence threw four touchdowns Saturday a win against Georgia Tech. He did not practice the last two days after Lawrence was giving the starting nod.

Too many of the power schools bring in 3 & 4 4* and 5* QB’s. It’s inevitable that some transfer out.
Bryant would start at a lot of solid programs. But his NFL prospects? Kind of small.
Im told Jalen is staying. He’s playing. Why would he leave? Where would he go. If he goes, he must announce now and not play again this year.
...ping....
Don’t follow college football much, but I don’t think any player, college or pro, should believe he’s indispensable.
I’m frankly surprised Dabo put Bryant on the bench. Bryant was awesome in the last natty, coming thiiissss close to beating Bama.
Players don’t transfer from Alabama. They love playing for Saban even if they don’t start.
You mean they make too much to leave. Alabama pays top dollar.
IMHO I think the whole redshirt thing is overrated. So many good players leave a year early anyway.
In Jalen’s case he’ll graduate in December anyway. So if he doesn’t think playing another year at Bama or anywhere else would make him more NFL material than playing through this year as 2nd string QB, then his academics aren’t a reason to stay another year either.
Don’t confuse Bama with Auburn. Cam Newton wishes he made as much with the Jaguars as he did with Auburn. :)
Aww Haww take the money and run.
You mean the Panthers.
Not true at all. Alabama is just like any other school in that regard. This a couple of years old but here's Nick Saban addressing the issue of Alabama transfers.
Where would he learn more than with Bama his final year? Where would he go? He’s a far better quarterback, no question, now that he’s had some competition.
Sorry, the whild dreadlock hair due, kinda gave me the impression that he wasn’t a really serious quarterback. Enter stage right the Hawaiian with all the energy and attention. Then over night, Hurts emulated him.
I like the combo. He’d be dumb to leave. If he’s going to be drafted, he’ll be drafted regardless.
The NFL looks for big, quarterbacks. Sure you might still have a Fran Tarkenton in there, but for the most part, they must be over 6’ 3’’ and powerful.
Love watching Bama.
Not true. We have a friend who was courted by Saban, promised the starting quarterback job, but was never given a chance after he signed. I think players are often recruited to keep them from playing for the opposition. If he had thought he would be warming the bench, he would have played elsewhere. His high school team won the state championship.
He had trouble transferring because Saban wouldnt give him a blanket release and other teams already had their qb slots filled. Its big business vs. an 18 year old with big dreams.
Never mind...
He’s gone.
Rumor is Arkansas but I think Auburn would be a great mach.
Now, how do the players respond to this midseason turmoil? It will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

It’s the “Selfish Generation”.... ALL ABOUT ME. No concept of “team” at all.
It’s disgusting.
He’s ONE PLAY AWAY from being the QB of on of the very best teams in the country. But, that’s not good enough for him?
Screw him... I wouldn’t want him on my team.
BS. Saban does not promise playing time to anybody. In fact, his former players commonly speak of appreciating his honesty in this matter.
Dabo blew it.
