It also seems like the NYT story could be a response to Trump’s tweets this morning about the declassification of documents. The NYT might be trying to change the narrative from the Kavanaugh story going into the weekend.

In this excerpt from the NYT Link in Q drop #2151, I find this excerpt astounding:
Rosenstein “....did tell Mr. McCabe that he might be able to persuade Attorney General Jeff Sessions and John F. Kelly, then the secretary of homeland security and now the White House chief of staff, to mount an effort to invoke the 25th Amendment.

On second thought, I don’t believe this as written. I can’t believe Rosenstein thought he could “persuade” Sessions and Kelly. It’s either flat-out fabrication (SOP for NYT) or Rosenstein believed he could threaten/force them (e.g., fabricated blackmail content), which is equally stupid.
Nah, I'll go with getting ahead of the story.
Getting scooped would not look good for them.
As Bongino points out, conservative justices take the longest to confirm, apart from Elena Kagan. But look at John Roberts. This stands out as much as Rod Rosenstein’s near-unanimous Senate confirmation. Why was John Roberts such a popular choice? Was there something about Roberts that wouldn’t have survived a longer investigation?
