CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) A District Attorney said two men accused of killing a woman and setting her body on fire did so because they were afraid she would snitch, reports say.
The trial against Clarksville men Kevin Forman, 29, and Kellum Williams, 37, is ongoing this week.
They are both accused in the slaying of Amy LeeAnn Murphy, a local 31-year-old woman.
The murder took place in 2015 and investigators said Murphys body was found burning in a field near Highway 76 West in Robertson County near the Montgomery County line.
According to The Leaf-Chronicle, during opening arguments, the DA alluded that Murphy was murdered because the suspects were afraid she would snitch about their drug ring activities.
The victim and Forman had just been arrested five days earlier on drug charges and Forman apparently became paranoid, the DA said.
At this time, the group of suspects confronted Murphy, tied her up and assaulted her, leaving her to lay in her own blood for hours, the newspaper reported.
She was later transported via truck to a field where she was set on fire and the DA believes she might have been alive at the time.
Williams and Forman are each charged with first-degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping and first-degree murder in perpetration of a kidnapping.
Court proceedings are continuing on Tuesday.
Two others, Carol Williams and Sandra Murphy, are also charged in the murder and Ernest Poe is charged with accessory after the fact.

Friends?
Victim.
CLARKSVILLE Three people have been re-indicted and another woman charged with murder in the 2015 slaying of a Clarksville woman who was found burning in an Adams field.
Sandra Murphy was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder, felony murder and especially aggravated kidnapping in the Jan. 31, 2015, death of her aunt by marriage, 31-year-old Amy LeeAnn Murphy of Clarksville.
Sandra Murphy had previously been charged as an accessory after the fact, but the new indictments charge her with taking part in the kidnapping and killing, along with Kevin Forman, Kellum Williams and Carol Williams.
All were served with new indictments Monday.
A fifth person, Ernest Lee Poe, remains charged as an accessory after the fact.
Amy LeeAnn Murphy of Clarksville was found Feb. 1, 2015, in a field near Highway 76 West, close to the Montgomery County line.

The new indictments do not include abuse of a corpse, which four of the five had been charged with earlier.
But in addition to first-degree murder, the four are now charged with felony murder because the indictments allege that they killed Amy Murphy in the perpetration of a felony and aggravated kidnapping, which caused the victim to suffer a serious blunt force trauma to the side of her head.
All of the suspects were acquainted with the victim.
According to previous reports in The Leaf-Chronicle, investigators believe that the Williamses, who are married, and Forman killed Amy Murphy in Montgomery County on or around Jan. 31, according to their indictments. The suspects then drove Amy Murphys body to Robertson County on Feb. 1, placed it in a field off Highway 76 near the Montgomery County line and then set it on fire, the indictments said.
TBI makes fifth arrest in slaying/body burning case
A passer-by noticed the flames and called police, authorities said at the time.
Investigators have not released the cause or motive in Amy Murphys death.
The investigation was handled by the TBI and Robertson County Sheriffs Office at the request of 19th Judicial District Attorney General John Carney.
The two agencies were assisted by the Clarksville Police Department.
The victim left behind three children, ages 5, 10 and 11, and her family is helping raise them out of state, her sister said in a previous interview.
You guys are such rayciss. I would bet if you check the FBI statistics there are just as many attacks of black women by groups of white guys, if not more. The media just ignores them because of their right wing bias.
"A multi-hued tapistry!"
"A beautiful mosaic of many colors!"
"Yeah, whatever."
So Sandra Murphy helped burn her aunt to death.
I have issues with a few of my Lefty in-laws, but I simply move to another room while attending the annual Christmas family shindig (a room they’re not in...).
Guessing it’s a bit late to tell her she needs to get better friends.
Wow, I’m sure I’m missing some info, but at first glance this seems to be a cautionary tale about picking ones’ friends and associates more carefully....
I don't think so.
