GOP Sen. Jeff Flake: Judiciary Committee Must Hear From Kavanaugh Accuser Before Voting
Daily Beast ^

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) said on Sunday that the Senate Judiciary Committee should pause its consideration of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh until the committee hears more from the woman who has accused him of sexual assault. “For me, we can’t vote until we hear more,” Flake, who sits on the judiciary committee, told The Washington Post.

Earlier Sunday, Christine Blasey Ford went public with her allegation against Kavanaugh, which dated back to their time in high school. Ford alleges that Kavanaugh pinned her down and groped her, then covered her mouth when she tried to scream. Kavanaugh has flatly denied the allegation.

Fortunately Flake is not on the judiciary committee

Ah, good. I was kinda worried about that.

A scumbag billionaire Dem donor is probably behind this. This phony victim is probably getting a big pay day from someone like Soros, Bezos, Steyer or Eric Schimdt.

Some of the vulnerable rat Senators in Republican states will vote for Kavanaugh. I believe Manchin is on the committee. He will counter-act whatever Flake does.

That is not correct -Flake is on the Judiciary Committee and could deprive Kavanaugh of a positive recommendation.

However, the full Senate could still vote on his nomination, and if all the other Republicans held firm, he would still be confirmed.

"6) One question that I would like to see addressed is how she remembers that it had to be KAVENAUGH at the party (assuming it even happened), when they obviously didn’t go to school together, and so likely only met very rarely at that time , unless they did happen to live within a block or so, but I doubt that she remembers where she lived at that time either(remember, she was 15 years old..." I'm telling you, Kavanaugh has done this before. If you were plied with drink by a creepy-looking blond poet who tried to seduce you, you'd remember that. Didn't have the judgement not to repeat the mistake he made in England, where he got his babysitter up the duff. And you seriesly want him on SCOTUS?!!/s

Nonsense?

At best if Flake flakes out

Judge leaves committee with a negative referral if Dems on committeee stick together

Very unlikely that with that kavanaugh goes forward with Mitch calling a full vote

It could happen rules wise

Let me see if it ever has

Looking

A Supreme Court with a negative referral has never gone to a floor vote, but two Foreign Relations committee negative referrals have

However since the Dems went nuclear a few years ago it’s now come back to haunt them and we only need a simple majority

It would be new precedent

The GOPe is near worthless so don’t count on it

Neutral referral

Better but only will happen it Flake or a dem abstains

Supreme Court committee nominations have historically gone to floor with a thumbs up referral

Otherwise they languish

Mitch would never call it without knowing he’s got the votes on this

To hell with Flake. The nominee can still go to the full senate. All the committee will do is not give him a recommendation. Force the full Senate to vote. “not one step backward”.

It really is amazing the depths the Democrats have dragged the country down into, just in the past year.

A hearsay charge about an “incident” that happened at a freaking high school party more than three decades ago?

REALLY???

How is he “kneecapped?” Except for Flake, who we already knew was human garbage, nobody has flipped yet. We need to fight this like Trump and his White House already are. We will get no help from McConnell and Ryan, that’s obvious, so we have to directly go after the sitting senators ourselves and TELL THEM to vote as planned.

Just for the record, committee votes are completely unnecessary. For example, if Trump were the majority leader he would have the right (and would) say screw this, direct floor vote, majority wins. The GOPe don’t know how to be leaders.

Just don’t listen to Flake. He represents no one and has, in a free admission, said that he’s not running again for his seat in Arizona because there is no way the voters would support him. Why should his opinion matter at all? Why’s he even still there considering that he has admitted he no longer represents anyone but himself?
