ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- Miss New York Nia Imani Franklin was named Miss America 2019 in Atlantic City.
Her victory Sunday night resurrected a string of successes the Empire State has had in the pageant in recent years. Mallory Hagan, Nina Davuluri and Kira Kazantsev won the title from 2013 to 2015 competing as Miss New York.
A classical vocalist whose pageant platform is "advocating for the arts," Franklin sang an operatic selection from the opera La Boheme on Sunday night.

Still trying to figure out why this "Contest" even exists.
This just hit me: If they go just evening gowns, can we expect to see every skimpier evening gowns? And could that actually change our whole culture regarding what is appropriate attire where evening gowns are concerned?
Just thinking out loud.
Next year Hillary as Miss uh, Arkansas? New York?
I would call her fairly average. She's thin but with at best a plain face (or my best guess is it's plain under all that makeup).
So someone can make it over in her own image, of course.
plus she is appropriating white culture with that weave....
It can be argued she is appropriating white culture by wearing woven fabric, using makeup, and bathing....
“Why does it matter how many of what color were in the finals?” You seriously ask that question?
1) There is a black MA contest, there is NO white MA.
2) AA are 13% of the population and barely more than that in the contestant pool, yet every year, at a minimum, there are 2-3 in the final 5, without exception.
And do I need to ask, “Is Miss New York a woman this time?” /sarchasm
(But would Laz hit it? )

I’ve been noticing a theme, or trend, that started at least 10, maybe 20, years ago.
Less white folks on covers of books and magazines.
Especially government issued books and mags.
The white person, if there is one, in a tv commercial is always a ding dong.
so on and so on.
Evening gowns will be next to go. That some women have better figures than others - or rather, any acknowledgement of this immutable fact of life - is simply unacceptable to the radfems. And so evening gowns will be gone soon for the same exact reasons and justifications that the swimsuit was eliminated: the ideological conviction of the radfems that judging a woman on her beauty in any way is sexist and evil*.
“A classical vocalist whose pageant platform is “advocating for the arts,” Franklin sang an operatic selection from the opera La Boheme on Sunday night.”
That’s all well and good but what does she look like almost naked?
Maybe we could have a wet burka contest?
“Adding to the intrigue was a remarkable letter released by Mund, the outgoing Miss America, who said Carlson and Hopper had bullied, silenced and marginalized her. “
Wretchen Carlson killed Roger Ailes now she’s killing the pageant.
Too skinny, no toys, this, tors, ritz, tors, riggts, tors, toys, tours.... it appears my auto-correct would rather burn in hell than say the word tits.
“...Franklin sang an operatic selection from the opera La Boheme on Sunday night....”
If I want I want to watch that kind of stuff and put myself to sleep I’ll watch reruns of the Ed Sullivan show.
It was then that I saw the leftists plan will backfire. Without any inclusion of outward beauty (swimsuit), who holds all the cards? Who besides believing women have inward beauty? Furthermore, by dropping the swimsuit portion, more Christian young ladies will be allowed and encouraged by their parents to enter. Ill predict the next 10 Miss America winners are all going to be Christians.
Nice raincoats those guys are wearing...
