A subdivision in a small Texas town north of Austin is facing a dangerous influx of rattlesnakes...Brown came across a baby rattlesnake in his own yard, where his two-year-old daughter and three dogs often play...According to KXAN, local authorities are aware of the issue, but to Brown's knowledge, they haven't done much other than recommend people take preventive measures by cleaning up any overgrown brush or getting rid of places where snakes can hide...As for Brown, he thinks the snakes are victims too and people should heed the recommendations from authorities. I don't want a child, adult, or dog to be bit," Brown said. "I just think people could pick up stuff in their yards, and have situational awareness. If the snakes have no reason to take up residence in your yard, they will go elsewhere."

Take a hoe to it and end it right there. Rattlesnakes average 10 live births at a time. That one baby he found where his kids play has a mama and a papa and a bunch of siblings who are too young to have rattles to warn him and his kids.
Years ago, a neighbor shot one and was hit in the face with flying things. Turns out it was giving birth to 12 babies (that he found). He killed them and tossed them in his truck and brought them over to show us.
Kill ‘em. Each and every one. Every time you find one. Hoe. Shot gun. .22 snake shot. Whatever it takes.
If it were me, Id collect all the rattlesnakes I could capture and drop them off in Austin. Right in front of city hall.
Another reason I will NEVER live in the South. Snakes, bugs the size of your hand and ‘gators!
*SHUDDER*
Yes, Wisconsin has Rattlers, Timber rattlesnake and the Eastern Massasauga (mas-a-sa-gwa) rattlesnake...but not in great numbers.
I’ll just stay here and battle Liberals, LOL!
Here in Arizona we have wall-to-wall rattlesnakes and scorpions the size of chihuahuas
Snake supremacists?
I killed a rather smallish (18 in.) in my yard with a nine-iron. Nasty critters, they are.
“They will go elsewhere”
Um, his animals and children are in danger, and he is more concerned about the welfare of the rattle snakes. Pure idiocy
I never have thought too much about or been too afraid of snakes. But yesterday around lunch time my 88 y.o. mom was feeding her cats outside and heard a noise like an air hose leak. She went poking around to see what it was and was bitten on the ankle by a timber rattler. She is in ICU. Shes doing really well - in a lot of pain but no necrosis - just bruising and swelling. Were going on a search and destroy mission. The snake had ten rattlers.
The rattlesnakes around here leave you alone if you leave them alone.
Snakes are victims? The only good snake is a dead one to me.
It is Texas brush country and it is full of rattlers. Everything in that part of the country and more so the further South and West you go either sticks, stinks or stings.
About 40 years ago, I walked out to my step-dad’s (a Polish man who’d spent the war in Stalag 13 near Nuremberg) back yard for a visit. I saw him furiously hacking the ground with a hoe. When I asked what he was doing, he replied, “Ah’m killin sneck”! I reminded him that the garter snake he’d just hacked to pieces was beneficial, he replied, “Ah tells you, Frahnk, sneck eez sneck”!
Snake b Gon works well, too. And a 410 shotgun.
Bugs the size of your hand and alligators. Well maybe Florida, yet certainly not North Georgia. All of those Deliverance people of course but not alligators(snicker snicker). North Georgia people just dont want all yall northerners moving into the neighborhood. Of course the Denver types will tell you that there will be 3 feet of snow every winter thus do not move to Colorado.
They are terrible in Texas.
You cannot let pets outside.
They are not bad when it’s 100 plus outside, but let it cool down to the 80’s then look out.
Stay in California. You will be safer.
Holy moly! I hope she is okay. Poor dear.
Arizona is the only state I’ve ever been where some of their Rattlesnakes are protected and you’ll go to jail if you kill one of them.
We have copperheads here in Georgia. Snake be Gone works and so does the mower.
The last rattler I killed was in a hallway of a new house my brother was building. We didn’t want to damage the expensive floor tile or walls with a .410 shotgun so I got a 10 foot 2 x 4 and did him in. He was about 2 1/2 feet long and was mad as hell. I was nervous, too.
Arizona is the only state Ive ever been where some of their Rattlesnakes are protected and youll go to jail if you kill one of them.

That must be the most ignored law in Arizona.
