Following weeks of pressure for Pope Francis to respond to accusations that he played a role in the cover-up of a Catholic Church pedophile ring, the pontiff finally spoke up on the scandal by referring to the victims of abuse as a "pack of wild dogs."
During Mass at the Vaticans Sanctae Marthae guesthouse, the Pope raised the issue by likening the latest child abuse scandal to a biblical story where Jesus is driven out of town by a pack of wild dogs.

This pope is the worst Ive ever seen, but the question is how long has long has this been going on decades or centuries
I’m betting the guy is preaching to the never read their bible except under compulsion as a kid crowd. If even them (they may remember too much).
Many Catholics are genuinely baffled.
He is 1. insane 2. possessed
Honestly, what result should be expected from a system setup where men are not allowed to have sex with women for their entire lives? What type of male would this be less of a deterrent to? A typical male, or someone who is trying to repress socially unacceptable urges?
And once in the system who is most likely to be selected by his peers to be their leader? A quietly suffering pious man or some sort of alpha homosexual who is relatively comfortable with those who selected him having inappropriate contact with young boys? The system seems almost institutionally set up to attract gay men.
Oops. What is the right word?
This story is seriously fake news on multiple levels.
Jesus told him that the answer is silence and prayer.
Jesus had something to say about those who harm children. It involves millstones, necks, and millstones.

OMG. The Pope is playing on Satan’s team.
I’m inclined to think centuries. This sort of thing never got reported on years ago. If you look at the numbers of perpetrators and victims in the last 50 years, it is absolutely colossal. When the “church” declares itself the final authority and says we can change the rules/add new doctrines every few years, is it any surprise these abuses of power happen?
Not to mention the titles and claims attributed to popes, even claiming to be God or Lord on earth. All power and authority belongs to Christ, our claim to be his true followers is dependent on us holding to his original teachings (which are already recorded in scripture). See John 8:31-32. The question to be asked of every doctrine should be what does the scripture say?
Quotes regarding the supposed absolute authority of the pope:
Pope Pius X “The pope represents Jesus Christ himself”
Christian Marcellus said to pope Julius II “take care that we lose not that salvation, that life and breath which thou hast given us, for thou art our shepherd, thou art our physician, thou art our governor, thou art our husbandman, thou art finally another God on earth”.
The Gloss of Extravagantes of Pope John XXII says “But to believe that our Lord God the Pope the establisher of said decretal, and of this, could not decree, as he did decree, should be accounted heretical”.
Pope John Paul II “Have no fear when people call me the “Vicar of Christ,” when they say to me “Holy Father,” or “Your Holiness,” or use titles similar to these, which seem even inimical to the Gospel”.
Pope John Paul II again “we readily understand the devotion of Saint Francis of Assisi for “the Lord Pope”,the daughterly outspokenness of Saint Catherine of Sienna towards the one whom she called “sweet Christ on earth”
Jesus said: Matthew 24:4 Jesus answered, See to it that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, claiming, I am the Christ, and will deceive many.
“Why is this spoken of as child abuse in general terms, but seldom mentioned that homosexual men are the predators?”
By blaming “pedophiles,” and insisting that homosexuality and pedophilia are separate and unrelated things, they are able to sell the lie that homosexuals are not the problem.
Every time you see someone calling this a “pedophile priest” problem, that person is trying to hide the truth about homosexuals.
“Hes not... Find the full text... Hes speaking of those who are trying to use the scandal to attack the church,”
Instead of worrying about that, he should be evicting the homos from the priesthood. I cannot think of a thing that would save the Roman Catholic faith more than dozens of churches being visited by a committee that physically frog marched the homo and pedo priests down the aisle, threw them out the front door violently, ripped off their collars, slapped them and kicked them down the steps.
Refer to Jesus clearing the temple.
The church would be amazed at the support they got.
“There are no deuterocanonical books belonging to the New Testament. There are apocryphal gospels, but they are not of apostolic origin and have never been recognized by the Catholic Church as authentic. I have no clue where this wild dogs business comes from.”
Maybe from the same book that tells the story of Jesus as a child playing on the Sabbath making birds out of clay. The Pharisees see this and scold him for “working” on the sabbath, to which Jesus claps his hands and the birds fly away.
I'm now convinced he's Lucifer.
Pederasty.
Not only is he gay but he’s nuts too. Just makin’ hsit up...
Yeah. No such story as such, but a careful reading all the way to the end, of the source article reveals that he is taking liberty with Luke 4:29. He calls the ones who “thrust him out of the city” dogs, not people, since they were just shouting and not listening to reason.
NOT defending this guy. Just had to figure out what in the world he was talking about.
My cousin Gerald said the worst thing about being a homosexual is being preyed upon by older men then as you age, you accept that you are the predator you despised 30 years earlier.
Also, Francis didn't say Jesus was chased out of town by wild dogs; He was chased out of town by the congregation of the synagogue at Nazareth, where they turned against Him after He preached there. Francis says these Nazareth people were "like" a pack of wild dogs.
Pope Francis is not justified at all to make this comparison: instead of simply answering Vigano's accusation with facts or evidence, he insults him. But this author, Jay Greenberg, was sloppy and didn't get the facts right.
