Oh Hot Dog!
Me ^ | 9/2/18 | Artemis Webb

I'm a burger guy. But sometimes a salty hot dog off the grill (it must be black in spots) is like, Americana on a bun. ... With beer too.

Now I’m not at all familiar with that place. I looked it up, and there’s a Lenny’s Grill and Subs in midtown on Memorial. Don’t know if that’s the same place you’re thinking of. This one is a chain restaurant, though. There is a reference to it in the description, when I Google it. http://www.tulsatvmemories.com/gb032606.html

I clicked on it. It’s people reminiscing about Tulsa, but I read several entries, and never did find the one about Little Lannies.

Depends on how active you are and your age. I can do the same but most of the time I skip breakfast and only have a light lunch and a heavy dinner. Heard of this quote? “Eat breakfast like a king, launch as a pauper, and dinner as a homeless person.” Eat what you want but be willing to suffer the consequences.

https://www.portillos.com/locations/

Portillos is a hot dog “stand” mainly in the greater Chicago area.

They are expanding to some other areas.

Lunch is usually my biggest meal - that’s when I’m hungry. On Saturdays, breakfast and lunch get squished into one Hot Dog ;-)

Live in Rochester presently and Hofman’s German Franks are the only ones we’ll buy. Get them at Wegman’s or Walmart. Tops is closing the store near me in a few weeks but never really shopped there much. Not thaty I dislike Tops, but Wegmans is better and Walmart is cheaper.

Not a fan of the Zweigles. The ones you get from Swan Market are just like the Hofmann’s. Maybe better.

You know sausages, you only like the ones you grew up with. I grew up in Syracuse with Hofmann’s.

Great memories for me too.

I was a teenager and my family would go to FL for a week vacation around Christmas time. We camped in a tent and occasionally would go to a restaurant or a motel. Those were the good ol’ days! :-)

Sorry, Charlie, but this old boy believes that hot dogs should be steamed.

The grill is for sausages with natural casings. I don’t care for that burnt faux skin casing on ‘hot dogs’.

To each his own, but make mine a steamed dog, nitrate-free, kosher & grass-fed, please.

I worked the beach crowd at Atlantic beach N.C.for a time many years ago. Steamed buns(small steamer box), runny chilli, and stainless steel roller grill was the cat’s meow. Options were diced onions, ketchup, mustard, relish. Sold hundreds of them. The stainless roller grill was the ticket, easily cleaned and produced a lot in a short period od time. There are non stick versions of those now, forget that nonsense. The steamer box held around ten at a time.
It was a productive operation. I made Johnny Rivers a couple of hot dogs once.

Yes. Better if those five ‘T’s’ have been blessed.

“Hebrew National taste just as good as Nathans but they are greasier plus you only get 7 in a package.”

I buy the big pkg, 20 dogs per pack at Kroger. Most stores don’t sell the big pack for some reason.

Hot dogs are OK, but I prefer Polish sausages.
