As always, 50 caliber is not to be used on combatants! You can use it on equipment but not on Humans. Make certain you always aim at canteens, gun belts, ships and planes!
I did not know that about the .50 caliber.
With respect to the navy rifle mentioned...16”/50 caliber...I believe the barrel length of said gun is 50x the bore diameter of 16”.

Old wives' tale. All weapons the US uses in war are good to go on all legal targets. IOW if you see a lawful or unlawful combatant direct or indirect fire with any US weapon is legal IAW LOAC.
