=====================================================================
Aug. 27 (UPI) -- A California sheriff's office said deputies conducting a traffic stop arrested a man found to be transporting 800 pounds of stolen lemons.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Office said Thermal Station Deputies assigned to the Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District Team were investigating a string of recent agricultural thefts when they conducted the traffic stop Friday.
The sheriff's office said Los Angeles resident Dioncio Fierros, 69, was found to be transporting about 800 pounds of freshly picked lemons that had been illegally taken from a nearby farm.
Fierros was booked into the Indio Jail on a charge of theft of agricultural products.

I live in the northern San Fernando Valley, the area was once ranches and orange groves. Many of the homes still have orange trees on the property. Last week on the way home I noticed a U-Haul van with the side door open and a person hanging out taking oranges off the trees by the street. I pulled over and asked if they had the homeowners permission and was told (in broken english) that they were only taking the oranges that were hanging over the street so it was okay. I said that I would go to the door and ask the owner and as I walked up the driveway the van sped away.
We have a lemon tree in our front yard that is at least 25 from the street. My wife has caught people several times with bags, boxes, and in one case a woman who used the front of her shirt, picking our lemons. When confronted they feign that they dont speak English or just shrug and walk away. According to my wife never once did any of them show any remorse or apologize when caught.

Yellow Gold. Lemons have become quite pricey here in Chicago.

Lemons are green before they turn yellow.
So are limes.
But limes that are yellow are not marketable because people expect limes to be green.............

Wow! When they're that size in Louisiana they call them citrons. They make good pies. 😁

When they're that size in Louisiana they call them citrons. Gasp! You mean to tell me that citrons are good for something other than target practice?
