A woman appeared to roll her eyes in court several times as she was sentenced to one year in jail for making false rape allegations against two college football players.

Twenty-year-old Nikki Yovino, who police say had a sexual encounter with two players in Connecticut and later made false rape allegations so she wouldn't lose a potential boyfriend, was sentenced Thursday in Bridgeport Superior Court.

She pleaded guilty in June to misdemeanor charges of falsely reporting an incident and interfering with police.

Police say Yovino, of South Setauket, New York, was attending Sacred Heart University in Fairfield when she reported being raped by two school football players in 2016, but later admitted making up the story.

What sentence would the men have received if they had been convicted based on her false testimony? That’s the sentence she deserves.

Naw by the looks of her she’ll love her new roommate. She strikes me as the type who really does not like men.

Well, maybe. But they are misdemeanors. I think a felony would be more appropriate, but maybe that was the plea deal she made to avoid a felony.

and if the two innocent men she falsely accused had been convicted, what would their sentence have been?

A year in prison for this is a joke. She tried to ruin two people’s lives. She should be in prison for decades, not just one year.

I wonder if she’ll have the nerve to roll her eyes at a larger cellmate when made to wash her dainties in the toilet?

If it is a year, then it is just jail, not prison.

what an arrogant SOB.

good, it’s about time women are prosecuted for making false claims. I hope the 2 men sue her. She ruined their lives and still doesn’t care. What values did she learn spreading her legs at a Catholic University? I hope her parents are proud.

Why, I do believe they'd be sentenced to the general population in a *men's* prison...

At least here in California, the penalty for perjury that results in imposition of capital punishment is still death. I think that’s the general rule from common law

Last time I checked, the average sentence for a rape conviction was about eight years, with actual time served about five years.

False accusation of rape is not taken seriously by prosecutors in America. In this case, the sentence was only one year for two false rape accusations.
