ESPNs NFL preseason ratings fell by more than a quarter on Monday night.
Mondays Ravens-Colts NFL preseason game earned a 1.7 rating and 2.66 million viewers on ESPN, down 26% in both measures from last year (Giants-Browns: 2.3, 3.57M). There was no comparable game in 2016.
Excluding games on NFL Network, the 1.7 rating is the fourth-lowest for any preseason game since 2004. ESPN has aired three of the four lowest rated games over that span, including Jets-Washington on Thursday and Buccaneers-Jaguars last year (1.6 for both).
MNF ranked just sixth for the night in adults 18-49 (0.8) behind ABCs The Bachelor (1.3), USAs WWE Raw (1.1), NBCs American Ninja Warrior (1.0), MTVs Video Music Awards (1.0) and VHIs Love and Hip Hop Hollywood (1.0).
On Saturday, NFL Network posted mixed results for a rare quadrupleheader. Bengals-Cowboys led the way with a 1.0 and 1.6 million, but that was down 9% in ratings and 6% in viewership from last year (Colts-Cowboys: 1.1, 1.7M). Compared to Ravens-Colts in 2016, which aired opposite the Olympics, ratings increased 54% (from 0.7) and viewership 56% (from 1.0M).
The Seahawks-Chargers nightcap had a 0.7 (-13%) and 1.1 million (-15%)...

They have the right to kneel, I have the right not to watch.

What?? You mean that theres no companies seeking graduates with a degree in African hyphen American studies? FORSOOTH!!!
Ravens played? They must have lost. The company I work for is in Baltimore (I am not), and I usually see all kinds of emails the next day. Nothing this Tuesday.
Ha Ha !!!
Especially with South Africa this week confiscating white lands and Zimbabwe telling blacks it won’t prosecute the murder of whites, I am not participating with blacks or the NFL denouncing whites and America.
NFL: Negros, Felons, and Liberals. No whites or Americans wanted.
I watch around 80-90% of all Yankees games. Every few weeks the game is played on ESPN. I then Email MLB and The NY Yankees telling them that I cant in conscience watch anything on ESPN and that I listen to the game on radio or follow the game on the internet. I explain that ESPN is un-American and should not be watched by patriotic Americans.
I sometimes get a form email back thanking me for my interest in MLB.
Hopefully they get enough messages from enough people to not renew the MLB/ESPN contracts
Who cares?
Ahhh the preseason.
Time to work on their curls and kneels.
Brand X.
There has been virtually no football talk at my work from mid season last year until now. Some may just say Oh, its just preaseason. No big deal. But speaking as a former rabid pro football fan, this is usually a pretty exciting time because you are starving for football, cant wait for the season to start, and excited about a fresh start for your team.
This does not bode well, long term, for the NFL. Liberalism has destroyed yet anotherAmerican pastime.
I work for a Baltimore based company too. I’m in Maryland but work from home, or the road.
They have a couple big events celebrating the local football collective.
One year, we were instructed to wear our favorite team jersey. I wore a NASCAR shirt.
The company used to have really nice season tickets. I won them once for a game. Something like $500 value. I Gave them away.

Yep my company usually has Raven related events too, haven’t heard of anything as of yet. Me i hated the Raven Thugs since day one.
I’m predicting that when the dust settles, this year’s NFL revenues will be 25% less than they were two years ago. That’s a game-changer. Football can’t survive on the love of Liberals.
They don’t want whites watching anyway. Wonder how season ticket sales went?
I agree with you... at least 20-25% drop in Revenue this year.
I know MANY people who have played Fantasy Football for 20+ years that are giving it up this year. It’s hard to watch this game anymore.
With all the new rules, its VERY easy to rig the outcome.
If it’s easy, you KNOW it’s happening.
Good point. Look at who they are marketing the sport to.
It is not their long term traditional fan base who spends money on tickets and merchandise.
Sucks to be them.
