It’s when you go outside of the CBD when you begin to see the “real” Detroit and why the population has dropped from over 2 million to 700k since 1960.
Sickening to see that’s the fate of such a beautiful block of historic structures. Unfortunately, either the city demolishes them or they’ll go up in a conflagration started by druggies and/or bums occupying them.
No, East Saint Louis is practically dead. Anything that was historic there has been demolished or destroyed to nearly the last. It’ll be “revitalized” eventually, but that’ll be after the remaining residents have moved on and they’ll start from scratch on empty lots.
I used Google Maps to try to find the location of the photo in Camden, NJ. As was mentioned, the city demo’d the entire block and beyond. Even the street is gone. Only the smokestack in the background stands in an empty field a block to the north.
Here it is from the exact same perspective as of 2017:
Not even urban anymore. Back to wilderness.
My sister, my nephew and wife, and several friends live in Reno. It’s a beautiful city, with lots of shopping, restaurants, and museums along with the casinos.
It has the University, two hospitals (three if you count the VA) and a major airport.
Housing is very expensive and close to non existent now. There are major job opportunities there and near by so it’s dealing with a huge influx of people.
The crime comes from illegal Mexicans, California criminals and drugs. Nevada is not a good place to be arrested, something they learn daily.
I have never seen the part of Reno this video displays, I have my doubts about it. I think this guy came to Reno on vacation, lost his shirt in one of the casinos and now hates the place.
I’ve looked at countless places that are Democrat-run (with the exception of already upscale areas with rich Whites who love voting Communist), and this ultimately ends up their fate - especially where Whites have fled (and ultimately Blacks, too, where a place is simply too dangerous for even the underclass to tolerate anymore). Countless (formerly) beautiful cities and towns of varying size. Sickening doesn’t even begin to describe it. All the blood, sweat and tears put into those buildings and neighborhoods - all to be prematurely ground to dust.
I gotta say, it's an improvement. Detroit's been de-urbanized in the sense that surviving businesses (generally bars or party stores) have been buying for-sale empty adjacent buildings and demolishing them for parking. That will in the long run result in a healthier economy and bring some people back. What that hellhole really needs to do is get rid of the 2.4% city income tax (1.2% for non-residents) in favor of a (unheard of in Michigan) city sales tax. More is spent in Detroit than is earned in Detroit, uh, for some reason. :^(
Bakersfield... so, it’s, what, a field, with a bunch of bakers in it? Modesto should change its name to Vinyard.
Forcing all self-described progressives to live in a place where their neighbors are underclass would be a great public policy.
Chicago is the way it is now — but the overloaded topheavy nature of their various gov’t levels is going to turn it into a larger version of Detroit. It will happen.
Aside from the black crime pocket
Chicago is great except for the govt
Hel every city is run by Dems almost
Dont be silly
You know damn well the problem dont be scared
Its race
Plenty decent cities with dem govt
You may not like them but many dem run white cities are reasonable places and serve as anchors for suburbs where folks like freepers live
Less than a handful of major cities have a GOP mayor and none are what Id call GOP controlled
There is not one majority black city in America safe for whites ..or blacks to live in
And to think this is just about democrats are bad
That ship has long sailed....that was the first quarter...we are in the second half now...and demographically we’re losing despite The wonderful Trump band aid
America will be minority white this century
Call me a racist I frankly dont give a damn....that future bodes poorly
Freepers have a poor grasp of nuance..they like things simple
Cities are bad is one of them
Chicago outside a few south side zip codes is great.
I love it and the people
Depressing picture. I can’t imagine living in a neighborhood like that.
See post #124.
Above some posted the Google street view coordinates link for the same spot, all those tires and the houses, even the street itself — gone.
Well, we are talking crime. When it comes to being free, most Freepers are right about most cities. Chicago has a lot of idiotic laws that oppress conservatives but give liberals license. Seattle is a prime example of a city that has gone from very good to trash heap rabid commie liberal in just 30-years, being extremely hostile for conservatives. Chicago is too. So Freepers are not wrong, by and large. I would be hard pressed to live in either city and there would have to be a compelling need for me to tolerate living in such oppressive cities amid such liberal whack jobs.
But your point is valid that Freepers tend to act as if all cities are no go zones for Conservatives. A lot of cities have a lot of good features. It is just the loppressive liberal laws an throngs of commie residents that ruins it. I would not live in Chicago on a bet.
Stockton has always been poor, and poorly run.
