The atmosphere here in northern California is hazy with smoke from all the fires. I won’t be seeing anything in the sky tonight.

Folks, I'm on the central Gulf coast of Florida. I watched one of these meteor showers years ago as they streaked across the dark, clear skies we have here in my location. The sight was beyond my wildest expectations.
Here's a tip....ensconce yourself on a lawn lounge chair and employ a small pillow, maybe a light throw if it's cool....lie somewhat flat....and watch the show. Otherwise, your craning neck WILL start hurting after a while...seriously.
Last time, a number of my neighbors saw me outside watching the sky from my patio. One-by-one they brought their lounges and some bottles of wine over to my patio, and we enjoyed a celestial night of wine-ing, star-ing and stare-ing as we watched the Great Motion Picture in the Sky together !

I saw the 1986 shower travelling west over the continental divide in New Mexico. It made driving a bit more dangerous on I10. It’s really dark there and the looks very close

Was kind of a poor viewing year here in Colorado. Peak time was before sundown. Saw maybe 8 over 2 hours last night.
