The actress you see in the movies often DOES reflect her in real life. I owe Goldie Hawn a profound apology. BTW I don't know her politics. [Considering how many actors had let me down I don't even want to know unless it's good.]
Someone had given me a horrible impression of her -- opposite what was true. And I had posted that false viewpoint multiple times here on the forum.
A number of years ago a certain fellow had gushed over her for two hours when she went to a lake to read in solitude. She had been polite even when he was overbearing -- for two hours before she lost her temper.
Hearing the specifics of his rudeness, it would be unfair to her to even publicly point out exactly all the reasons why she lost her temper with him. If she had been patient with him for 10 minutes, I would still have been impressed by such kindness. But -- two hours?
Wonderful lady, just as sweet in life as what you see in the movies. And I hope if any other man bugs her half as much for two minutes that some good fellow gives him a black eye.
Her politics? She partners with Kurt Russel who claims to be very Libertarian, if she’s anything like her man.
Although - I have seen her in at least one interview claim that her politics was a private matter....good for her!!
Mrs Russell is no blithering leftist - nuff said
If Kurt Russell had been there, might have happened. Maybe what this peckerwood wanted, so as to sue and make $$$.
Yes, it would have been interesting if her husband had been present. “Skin it. Go ahead and skin that smoke wagon, and see what happens” is a classic of how to deal with rudeness and a bully.
Outstanding!
I was reluctant to ask or search.
I’m so relieved. Someone had filled me with venom, and it probably tainted my view about a lot of actors.
‘Maybe what this peckerwood wanted, so as to sue and make $$$.’
Actually the rude guy was a marine. Might be one reason why she put up with so much abuse.
Not that he intimidated her. When she finally lost her temper, he ran off and sulked.
AND WHAT A SPECTACULAR BUTT!
A smile that could melt the ice caps.
And what a great sense of humor.
She was definitely a lib during the Clinton years. I vividly remember her taking part in the Inauguration TV special in 1993. But that was 25 years ago. She doesn’t tweet like a lot of her deranged Hollywood friends. I think she’s smart enough now to keep her opinions to herself.
She was terrific in Private Benjamin, in my opinion. Eileen Brennan too.
Did they get married? I dont remember hearing that.
I do remember her saying long ago in an interview that her father would take her to the beach and tell her if she ever let her head get too big to look out at the ocean and shed realize she wasnt so big after all. A smart man.
Always assume leftist politics in the arts until proven otherwise. That said she isn’t tweeting or active like her other hollywoodites. Part of that is her career in movies or tv is probably over for the most part now and yes her partner Kurt might have something to do with it. They used to (not sure if anymore) have vacation property in the Muskoka area of Ontario and for the most part were well liked up there from what I hear. Perhaps that was the lake area that that incident took place.
I’ve always liked her career persona. How she is in person, I couldn’t tell you. She made a career of being a cute little ditz who, deep down, had a good heart. She probably doesn’t have the face to pull off the cute little ditz rolls any more and she can afford to live off royalties rather than risk her franchise.
I bet she could be dragged into one final “Lifetime Achievement Oscar” sort of role but Hollywood may not be into making anything wholesome enough to do it now.
favorite line of that movie, and best dismissal ever, is “eat your checkers”.
Years ago when Goldie lived in Bethesda MD, my wife who was a rep for a top makeup firm at Bloomingdales, would do her makeup.
She would always call ahead to make sure my wife was there.
Don’t know her politics but she was always very nice and down to earth per my wife...
I had figured she was PROBABLY a sweet, but shallow and idiotic hippie liberal. I’m actually glad to know she doesn’t believe in forcing liberalism down everyone’s throat... and that her charitable concerns are helping poor children. That makes her a HUMANitarian; I’m so sick of liberal rich people devoting all of their cash to charities which are really selfish. (A gay man donating to an AIDS foundation, or a horndog donating to Planned Parenthood is NOT charity. It’s self-interest!)
