Parenting in the current political climate isn't for the faint of heart. Recently, my 9-year old daughter asked me, "Mama, I know it's really bad they're putting people in jail, but do those people think, 'Well, at least I'm safe from war?' "
My 7-year old daughter quickly followed up with, "Why would someone say Donald Trump is keeping us safe?" Clearly, my two white kids, like all children in the United States, are absorbing the racialized rhetoric about immigration and "others" that's everywhere right now.
Numerous studies have shown the early and negative impact society's racism has on children's development. By the ages of 3 and 4, American children internalize racist stereotypes of self and others. By age 5, they recognize that different groups are treated differently and understand something about the racial social status. Children will never just "unlearn" these things on their own.
These studies were pre-2016. Public displays of racial hostility have since amplified, showing up in such topics as talk about kneeling NFL players, black families' attempts to enjoy a summer swim interrupted by white neighbors calling the police or immigration debates implying that people from south of the border are uniquely dangerous. We can only speculate how much worse the damage will be to children's long-term notions of self and others, and to what a just and peaceful society looks like.

I heard something on a local radio station that was stunning. Some guy was ranting and raving about his white privilege. He defined his white privilege as growing up with two parents who loved and supported him. He had no idea how racist his view of white privilege is, nor did he understand that he had just been indoctrinated to hate himself because of his skin color.
If that guy is an example, the future for this country is bleak. A combination of the worst elements of Venezuela and South Africa appears to be America’s future.
Woman is a buffoon. Has not been outside her bubble in 20 years or so would be my guess.

People like the author are why I am a conservative. Having white liberals talk down to you is tiring. They often ask my kids which race they identify with (mine or my wife’s). We told the kids early in life to never have someone make you choose.
Turn that headline around and it would be banned by the Fake Media for being “Racially insensitive”.
This sort of garbage is why CNN, the rest of the clown media, is being treated with some much contempt these days by average people.
They have become so infantile hysteric and poltically stupid they are now viewed as a farce.
The younger generation of whites is very likely to rebel against this stuff. They are having to deal with the effects of the diversity on a grand scale and are probably going to get tired of it.

I think others have learned this along the way as well. I rather like the fact there are ‘differences’ of how we see society....that way I get to choose who I prefer to hang with.
In order to be ‘racially sensitive ‘ you have to acknowledge that race exist and that by definition races are different.
My question, why is it whites have to be ‘racially sensitive’ ? Do other races not have the same responsibility toward whites?

I was raised in the 60’s and we were taught two things: “Never judge a book by its cover” and “Treat everyone the way you want to be treated.” I passed these along to my children. Race didn’t need to be addressed.

Most of the blacks coming out of the Civil Rights Movement were gracious people following Dr. King and his teaching. This angry payback shit comes from their grandchildren, who have been privileged brats who never suffered under segregation.
I believe raising your kids to be racially aware that some other races/cultures live only to prey on others. Teaching tribalism to white kids is the only way to teach recognition of other tribes that historically hate their guts just for existing. Nothing wrong to teach your children to be aware. It helps to keep from becoming a victim of folks like Antifa, blm, jihadis et al.

That’s about how much the average Chinese-American, African-American, Somali-American, Persian-American, or Jewish-American thinks about what a genuine white Christian American happens to believe.
The various tribes inhabiting the USA pursue their own interests, as humans have done since the dawn of time. You would be well-advised to do the same.

My kids are smart enough to know that “immigrant” isn’t a race ... and they know the difference between legal and illegal.
