I don't want to devalue your point. Just confirm that weather such as this is not unusual in these sorts of area in the summer months.
Agreed. My place is not too far from where this happened. All along the front range in central & southern CO it is just a fact of life, the weather is unpredictable. Well, more difficult to predict than in many (most) other places. These kinds of storms are nothing new, they happen almost daily during the southwest monsoon season, and at least a few times in the spring each year too.
Was in and around Ouray, Colorado last month. We saw a car dimpled like a golf ball. Not something we see in our part of the country. But someone explained it to us. Aw hail.
Climate change. Global average temperature was up 0.32 degrees last month , compared to the 1970’s average temperature.
Wow. /sarchasm
I lived in Colorado for many years and summer tornadoes, hail storms, wildfires, crazy lightning, etc. are the NORM. Living in the Rockies is not for the faint of heart. One hail storm did $25,000 damage to my house, deck, and yard.
I lived in Lubbock, TX back in the 80’s and it seemed that every spring, the car dealers would have a hail sale.
Large open lots full of new cars got damage from hail storms.
I bought a new ‘86 Chevy truck that had the hood and the bed beat up. Got it for about 1/2 price.
“We saw a car dimpled like a golf ball.”
My Subaru now has the quite fashionable, aerodynamic hood. Didn’t bother my truck which was also outside.
Reports of 300 cars damaged at the zoo - which caught my attention.
Living in Monroe during a 1988 hailstorm - I owned a Pontiac Fiero which survived unscathed (fiberglass?) - all my office colleagues’ autos suffered major dents & damage.
Bought land here as soon as I could, 24 years ago. Getting crowded now. I'm in the Bitterroot.
You coming back?
That was my car here in S.E. Michigan back in the late 80's.....Not quite that bad tho
AND! It all depends on where/when/how you take those temp measurements
2 birds killed by one hailstone
“I grew up in Montana. Went through some pretty damaging hail storms. “
Sorry but there were no damaging hail storms before Trump became President and caused Global Climate Change.
The duck forgot to duck.
Interesting...
Here in Pittsburgh PA area I was watching the Pirates ballgame in Colorado, when the rains came...
and thought it sure looks like hail storm to me..saw on the bill board they announced lightening strikes were possible...and everyone in the stands went running for cover...
Game resumed later, and Pirates sadly LOST...
THAT BALL PARK IS CERTAINLY BEAUTIFUL AND HUGE, difficult to get Home Runs there, betcha...
A typical summer day in Colorado
the lack of animal injuries maybe indicate they are the smarter ones (as in getting in OUT of the hail)
