I grew up in Montana. Went through some pretty damaging hail storms. There is extreme weather in the summer months. Especially in areas with high elevation. Having grown up with this type of weather on the regular, I'd a be bit hesitant to put this on a list of chaotic and everywhere. I think with the internet we and the 24/7 news cycle we hear more of what is going on everywhere.

I don't want to devalue your point. Just confirm that weather such as this is not unusual in these sorts of area in the summer months.

Agreed. My place is not too far from where this happened. All along the front range in central & southern CO it is just a fact of life, the weather is unpredictable. Well, more difficult to predict than in many (most) other places. These kinds of storms are nothing new, they happen almost daily during the southwest monsoon season, and at least a few times in the spring each year too.
