NASCAR CEO and Chairman Brian France was arrested Sunday evening on charges of driving under the influence.
TMZ reported France's blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the arrest. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that France attempted to use his relationship with President Donald Trump during the stop.
France endorsed Trump during his presidential candidacy in 2016.
A statement released by the Sag Harbor Village (N.Y.) Police Department said France was also in possession of oxycodone.
"Mr. France was observed operating a 2017 Lexus northbound on Main Street failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign," the release said, per Bob Pockrass of ESPN.com. "Upon traffic stop, it was determined that Mr. France was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition.
Where did this happen?
Makes sense if you think about it, since stock car racing was invented transporting alcohol during prohibition. :)
There was a time when a DUI suspect would have gotten further name-dropping the CEO of NASCAR than the President of the United States. :-P
I once caught a fellow who said he was friends with the President. I allowed him to call at the jail . As a retired Police Officer I tell you for a fact dropping as name is useless regardless. It makes it worse in most cases.
I stopped watching and caring about NASCAR a few years ago because of the France Family and their cheap shiite.
Haven’t missed it at all.
That has made it very easy for me to say adios to the FNFL, too.
Stopped watching NASCAR when they stopped using STOCK cars.
So, did he drive off a bridge with a campaign volunteer inside? Thanks mabarker1.
That and thinking that they were too good for flag-waving rednecks.
I was able to watch about the last 20 laps of that and boy i was glad to see the kid finally get one
That was the beginning of the end for me. That and allowing Toyotas on the track. Pure crap!
Heh. Never heard of him.
NASCAR doesn’t even pay him enough to afford an Uber ride.
President Trump doesn’t drink alcohol. Maybe he should have dropped Hillary’s name instead.
Ever hear of his Daddy?
A Lexus?? Isn’t that a Toyota with leather seats?
Ossifer, I”m not as think as you drunk I am...
You should be able to purchase your car at a dealership and race it with only a few safety modifications. Otherwise, its not a stock car.
Have you ever heard Brian France speak? He makes LeBron James sound like William F. Buckley (RIP).
He is a joke here in North Carolina. He would be lucky to be cleaning the mechanic’s tools on the third shift if his daddy did not own NASCAR.
NASCAR’s demise and yearly re-tooling of its marketing plan is directly due to Brian France’s inability to see that:
1. The cars bear no relation to “stock cars” that the buying public can purchase
2. The cars are over-powered and go too fast for the tracks, so “restrictor plates” have to be used on superspeedways and that means passing is limited.
3. F1 racing is booming. The Austin Circuit of the America’s track is state of the art. Do more right hand turns and see the crowd get into the action. I have much more fun at Watkins Glen than Charlotte. That means using the aero package to increase braking resistance and downforce, not reduce drag at 200+mph.
4. Stop this silly “Stage Victory” crap. Run a race.
I don’t like F1, btw, since there are only about 10 teams and 8 are in England. Too much reliance on one team having superior technology over the rest.
Rant off.
Why are youi ranting at me?
