This is a monthly posting of Twitter follower growth over the past month.
The purpose of these posts is to track Twitter follower growth for announced presidential candidates on a month over month basis. This is unscientific and is not intended to be taken that seriously. I also understand that some presidential candidates may inflate their twitter following by artificial means. But during the 2016 campaign, the growth trends did seem to correlate to the actual results. All during that campaign, the Twitter growth of Trump was massive compared to the other candidates. Only Hillary and Bernie came close to the intensity (and as it was, they were the finalists for the Democrat nomination).
I am including all officially declared candidates and have in bold those who have filed FEC. As the list of candidates grow, I may decide to drop those who have not filed with FEC. But for now, I'm including everybody who has officially declared and is noted as such in the Wikipedia article for the 2020 Presidential campaign.
I realize we are still over two years away from the 2020 election but I would like to have several months of data behind me once the campaign season picks up in earnest (after the mid-terms).
This is my second month of doing this so you can now see the trends emerging. I have stack-ranked the candidates by how many followers they gained over the past month.
You will notice that most of the candidates lost followers over the past month. This is likely due to the Twitter purge of "fake accounts" and it's interesting to note that President Trump's followers still increased by nearly half a million. He is the sitting president after all.
Rocky de la Fuente was the biggest loser in terms of followers lost. He lost over 100,000 of them!
Two new entries to the presidential race for July. I know next to nothing about them but Ken E. Nwadike (the Hugs guy) has an FEC filing to his credit. The other new entry is Arvin Vohra (never heard of the guy).
Dan Rattiner is the only official candidate with no apparent Twitter account so I listed him separately at the bottom.
Let me know by Freepmail if you want on (or off)
Who is Jack Failure?
Declared or not. Means nothing unless you include Kommuna Harris, Rottentothecorey Booker, And Villages Maven Biden, etc
Where is Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden and the Pantsuit Princess herself - Hillary Clinton??
I’m on the fence about including those who have not officially thrown in. I’ll take it under consideration.
Thanks for the ping! Keep up the good work!
I forgot Piaps, and Little Chief Fauxahontas. How could I?
Who is Jack Failure?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
He is married to Maria Off, known in Dem circles as Mrs. Jack Off-Failure./S
So the author Brad Thor is running for president?
You have a ping list? Put me on it, please.
I’m a bit taken by Vermin Supreme.
Bttt.
5.56mm
Excellent idea. But limiting it to declared candidates only means you don’t list ANYONE but Trump who will be a factor.
Maybe next month I’ll add a section for undeclared candidates who haven’t announced yet but are likely to run.
Im on the fence about including those who have not officially thrown in. Ill take it under consideration.
Sam, by tracking likely but not declared you might be able to detect those that are running but simply haven’t filed yet by their growth early on.
Otherwise I think you are simply measuring the possible VP choices with this metric.
If Vermin Supreme isn’t a registered Democrat, something is amiss.
Other than Trump, they are so obscure that they won’t even be considered for VP.
