California Gov. Jerry Brown says his state is in "uncharted territory" with the current slew of intense wildfires and he warns that climate change has made the situation "part of our ordinary experience."
"[The] predictions that I see, the more serious predictions of warming and fires to occur later in the century, 2040 or 2050, they're now occurring in real time," Brown said at a news conference on Wednesday in Sacramento.
"You can expect that — unfortunately — to continue intensifying in California and throughout the Southwest. We are part of that process," he said.
Brown said that only a month into the current budget year California has already spent $125 million, a quarter of its fire budget.
"We're in for a really rough ride," Brown said at the news conference. "It's going to get expensive, it's going to get dangerous, and we have to apply all our creativity to make the best of what is going to be an increasingly bad situation."
Brown's remarks reflect a growing body of evidence and scientific opinion that supports a link between warmer temperatures due to climate change and more fires of greater intensity that occur for more months out of the year. They also echo the frustration of many on the front lines battling the blazes.

Still remember standing on the roof with dad, hosing down the roof while the fires a ridge over were cresting the top. That was about 45 years ago. Since then, seldom a year goes by without a kalifornia wildfire or several in the news. Envirowackos help with this, blocking what would normally be done to manage areas susceptible to combustion.

So the fires we had in So Cal EVERY SUMMER from the time I was a child were just aberrations?
Jerry, it is called WEATHER. I the summer, it becomes hot and dry and you get Santa Ana winds. Every year. Since before humans even existed.
This is just as stupid as saying hurricanes during hurricane season are the result of global warming.

Here’s the causes of the wildfires being so large & uncontrollable:
1. Bruce Babbitt, of the Interior, under Clinton closed the U S Forest roads with large gates. They also dug LARGE holes inside those gates to prevent ANY vehicles or fire crews from getting to a SMALL fire before it became a large one. I know about those gates because I was bookkeeper for a welding shop in N Calif and he had a contract to make a large number of them. I SAW those gates in place when I rode my horses on existing trails in that area. Only way to get crews into fires was by parachute—HOTSHOTS—or walking them in. Could NOT use those existing roads into the forests because they had been SABOTAGED by Clinton /Babbitt.
2. Timber harvesting & replanting was stopped because of the “Spotted Owl. Millions more of board feet of timber has gone to waste by the bark beetles or by fire than anyone in the USA has ever comprehended. Loss of timber harvest revenue is also impacted.
3. The main tree in the California/Oregon, etc., forests is the Douglas Fir. It DOES NOT LIVE FOREVER. That is another lie the Enviros want to tell people. The life of a Douglas Fir is about 30 years. Then, it USED TO BE harvested for lumber. If NOT harvested, it goes downhill fast, and is useless in about 2 years. Loss of millions of $$$ of timber, but the USA keeps building everywhere all the time.
4. The dead & dying Douglas fir trees now are a banquet for the Bark Beetles. They are very destructive. They have been raising havoc for years in those forests. The bark beetles now have a head start on the younger trees, also. When you see large patches of brown trees in the forests, it is the bark beetle that is more responsible than any ‘drought’. A ‘Drought’ would cover a larger area & all the trees.
5. The ranchers have NOT been allowed to graze their cattle or sheep on the forest grounds. Those animals bring in $$$ for grazing fees, and they eat the grasses & lower shrubs which are called ‘LADDER FUELS’. When those grasses & shrubs ignite, they feed taller fires which then get into the taller trees. Those trees burn, and they release burning embers which can fly away as far as a mile & start/feed other fires.
NOW-—The FUEL LOAD in the Nation’s forests is really high.
There are some other reasons, but all of the above are responsible for the high fire risks & the losses of the recreational usage & the timber harvests of our Federal Lands.
Bill Clinton & Bruce Babbitt engineered all of this with the ‘GREENIES’ and they created a terrible legacy.
Put the blame where it belongs...on Clinton—Babbitt—and the headstrong Enviros.
