California Gov. Jerry Brown says his state is in "uncharted territory" with the current slew of intense wildfires and he warns that climate change has made the situation "part of our ordinary experience."
"[The] predictions that I see, the more serious predictions of warming and fires to occur later in the century, 2040 or 2050, they're now occurring in real time," Brown said at a news conference on Wednesday in Sacramento.
"You can expect that unfortunately to continue intensifying in California and throughout the Southwest. We are part of that process," he said.
Brown said that only a month into the current budget year California has already spent $125 million, a quarter of its fire budget.
"We're in for a really rough ride," Brown said at the news conference. "It's going to get expensive, it's going to get dangerous, and we have to apply all our creativity to make the best of what is going to be an increasingly bad situation."
Brown's remarks reflect a growing body of evidence and scientific opinion that supports a link between warmer temperatures due to climate change and more fires of greater intensity that occur for more months out of the year. They also echo the frustration of many on the front lines battling the blazes.

(It would be a better investment than that train)
Wood burns when hit with an ignition point above 451 deg.
That is all the fires really prove.
BTW, I know for a fact that CA is paying people to walk power lines looking for overhanging branches.
The same that burned Napa last year.
Many of these fires are deliberately set, IMHO.
Dont blame the mismanagement of Commiefornia on the climate.
I dont see why they havent just passed a law making wild fires illegal. It works for so many other things.
I thought the wildfires were more because of the dead brush still in those areas left by the environmentalists?
CA will not let companies in to clean up the forests. Getting dead fuel out of the forest would significantly reduce the size and destructive nature of these fires. The fires are natures way of cleansing itself. Now, either you let mother nature do the house cleaning or you let humans and technology go in there and pull out the dead logs and trees. There is money to be made in most cases, so many forests can be managed for low to no cost if they would just let people in there.
Wildfires are part of the natural lifecycle of bush and forested areas. The trouble is that people in the last number of years keep on moving into these areas, and that a great deal due to real estate in places like Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and certainly Vancouver (in British Columbia) keeping on getting more and more extremely expensive.
Arson is now climate change? Jerry.........Jerry.
No Jerry. The state is burning because the morons in the assembly passed a law making it illegal to remove brush and fallen branches from the state and national forests. The state assembly set up and primed this fire. They were just waiting for a spark!
Ping.
No Jerry, it has nothing to do with climate change. It has to do with stupid environmentalists who know nothing about being a good steward of the land. Allow grazing to clear out the disastrous tinder, thin the forests, you have healthier trees, more fire resistance and the added benefits of jobs and building materials.
Guarding the environment means more than just standing around forbidding use.
Wild fires are part of nature's cycle.
If man will not the problems, Mother Nature will.
California’s Gov. Brown: Wildfires Are Evidence Of Changing Climate ‘In Real Time’
Did moonbeam come down to earth to make this comment or was it picked up by one of our interstellar antennas.
Wildfires did not occur prior to global warming. That is what they are saying.
“”We’re in for a really rough ride,” Brown said....
....unless I can get gas prices up to $10 a gallon.
islamist and bum started fires, para lo mas.
brown is a committed islamodemocrat. That’s why he’s in that party, which includes many other anti-American liars.
Sixty years ago Public Service announcements with SMOKEY THE BEAR warned us that EVERY YEAR wildfires in the continental USA (excluding Alaska and Hawaii) burned over enough acreage to cover the state of Louisiana.
That would be 25 MILLION,500 thousand acres. Has the USA reached half the quota yet?
