It is the secretive fraternity that has championed their male-only membership for centuries.
But the Freemasons have decided to break from tradition by allowing women to join the brotherhood, but only if they were born male.
In new guidance the United Grand Lodge of England, which was founded in 1717, has said transgender women - or men who have undergone gender reassignment surgery - may still join the Masonic Lodges.
The dress code has also been slightly redefined allowing women who were born men to wear a smart dark skirt and top.
The Freemasons have told their 200,000 members that a Freemason who after initiation ceases to be a man does not cease to be a Freemason.
The organization's gender reassignment guidance - which was issued to the brotherhood on July 17 - also said that a woman who had become a man may become a member. Women who have not undergone reassignment surgery will still be exempt from Freemason membership, however.

Who wants to join an organization where trust is supposed to be an integral part of it, yet, they allow in untrustworthy mentally ill homosexuals??
A woman born male = a man.
Talk about having your cake and eating it too.
Apparently this is a really big concern for the Freemasons?
Then they are still not letting women join.
My very first thought, too. Shouldn’t the perverts be insulted by this? They are now magically women, no longer men. They all insist on being treated as women and get really mad if anybody slips and calls them a man. I would think they would vigorously reject this.
So they are still not letting women join, but mentally ill men are allowed. I don’t see that they have improved their membership profile.
It becomes a concern when some mentally deranged, filthy disease-ridden queer starts making demands ... whether they want it to be a concern or not. It’s never a case of “Organization X” jumping up and saying “what we really need is to start recruiting lunatic perverts!!!”. It’s always a case of lunatic perverts demanding to be admitted to “Organization X” against the better judgment of its members.
Freemasons are supposed to believe in God. It’s perhaps their most sacred tenet. Thus it follows that they believe too that God endorses this transgender nonsense.
...As deteriorated and in the dumps as a nearby so-called, Temple.
But, but, but—women who have become men?
“a woman born a male”
is as logical as saying:
“a cat born a dog.”
“Freemasons are supposed to believe in God. Its perhaps their most sacred tenet. Thus it follows that they believe too that God endorses this transgender nonsense.”
I am not sure the fraternity has “tenants”, per se. More like minimum requirements to join.
And it also appears, since they are saying that a male-to-female tranny is still a male for their purposes (however stupidly dressed), they are implicitly rejecting, not endorsing, the practice.
“Then what’s a the hubbub, Bub?”
Whatever they’re doing to try to increase membership, it isn’t working and adding a rainbow to the symbolism won’t either. I am seeing more and more lodge buildings up for sale or lease and adding some transgenders won’t stop it. They don’t seem to understand the problem they’re having. Perhaps they should try asking those who’ve been in/through the chairs and found a better use for their time.
"It opens doors, I'm telling you."
Freemason = Cronyism.
It isn’t an organization of the members, it is an organization for the personal use of those in charge.
I’ve known too many masons that have simply stopped participating.
Adopting the Seinfeld “Not that there’s anything wrong with that” attitude has been weakening our society for decades. Kids are paying the price for this nonsense.
Since it’s unenforceable, this too will fall, and give way to full female membership.
