President Donald Trump on Tuesday wrongly claimed that shoppers need to show photo identification to buy groceries and accused Democrats of obstructing his agenda and his Supreme Court nominee during a raucous rally aimed at bolstering two Florida Republicans ahead of the state's primary. Trump, addressing thousands of supporters in one of the nation's top electoral battlegrounds, also mounted a rigorous defense of his trade agenda, accusing China and others of having "targeted our farmers."
"Not good, not nice," he told the crowd as tensions with China continue to escalate, adding: "You know what our farmers are saying? 'It's OK, we can take it." The Trump administration last week announced plans for $12 billion in temporary aid to help farmers deal with retaliatory tariffs from U.S. trading partners in response to Trump's policies.
Tuesday night's freewheeling rally lasted more than an hour and included numerous attacks on the media, as well as one glaring false claim. Trump was railing against the idea of noncitizens voting and advocating stricter voting laws when he claimed that IDs are required for everything else, including shopping.
"If you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card, you need ID," he said at the event at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. "You go out and you want to buy anything, you need ID and you need your picture."

The MSM frantically fact checks Trump’s every utterance, yet couldn’t be bothered to fact check their messiah when Obumaga spewed his endless stream of easily refutable bilge for 8 years.
Depends on where the person is a recognized/regular shopper, if not, photo ID is required. Certainly at Sam’s, as someone said. Sometimes the ID is needed is I use a credit or debit card. Certainly needed for purchases of large amounts.
I was carded to use a credit card this morning.
You do if your groceries include alcohol, tobacco, or certain OTC drugs.
You need and ID to use your check card, or to cash a check
You need Photo ID at grocery stores IF PAYING BY CHECK.
Unless you have opened an account for checks at the store, which required photo ID.
But grocery store is not the best example. Better examples:
1. Cashing welfare checks
2. Cashing personal checks anywhere
3. Applying for welfare benefits
4. Receiving healthcare at doctor’s office or hospital
5. Flying on commercial
I now have to show ID to deposit money into Wells Fargo. They say this is to reduce fraud. Like folks are fraudulently depositing money in other people’s accounts.
Whack World
Or to buy tobacco products...
Pretty much everywhere, if you dont pay in cash. 😁 These chumps are so pathetic.
You do in my state. If you buy beer or wine in the grocery the entire checkout line comes to a grinding halt while a manager is summoned to check your credentials, a photo ID is required each and every time to verify age. I’m 60 and look it.
Sounded like a bit of hyperbole to me. Jeez, these libs have zero sense of humor.
You should need proof of ID, of citizenship, to vote and to vote once.
We are done with the cheating. MSN will fail with this attempt.
Try buying certain medications or cigs or alcohol. If you write a check you need ID.
Wells Fargo looks like a detention center in my border state
pay with a check? ID
pay with a credit card? you may still be asked for ID
buying beer? ID
buying wine? ID
buying tobacco? ID
Why are Dems so afraid of voter ID? They are the ones claiming Russian meddling.
If I recall, an effort was made in Texas to give everyone receiving such benefits a FREE state ID card that could be used as ID when voting and the Dems still threw a fit.
By making the ID free, it destroyed their “poll tax” argument they tried to claim regarding ID requirements.
And usually they only card you if you “look” young. Profiling the young. Oh the horror.
Or buy alcohol...
It was 89 degrees but tv weathermen still advised that it felt like 102.
