AURORA, Colo. (AP) A man who fatally shot an intruder in his suburban Denver home early Monday was killed by responding officers who saw him holding a weapon, investigators said.
Police received multiple calls about a break-in at the home at about 1:30 a.m., and when officers arrived, they heard gunshots inside, The Aurora Sentinel reported .
Aurora police, who described the scene in a statement as very chaotic and violent, said they encountered an armed man and fatally shot him. That man turned out to be the person who lived in the home. A second man, the suspected intruder, was found dead during a search.

You’re welcome. I figured there might be more details with a local site than the original site posted.
Wow, just a horrible story. I would be raining legal hellfire and brimstone down on the owners/occupants of the party house the home invader came from. They should absolutely be named in the wrongful death suit.
Cops will skate on this one, as usual.
Most of the cops down here in the south shouldn’t have a gun to start with. Most to lazy to find a real job.
What? Were the dogs tied up?
I feel the same way about union thugs.
Maybe they can bring in the JonBenét cops from Boulder to help.
There sure are more details. Saw the address and looked it up on a map. About three blocks away from where I lived from the ages of 2 to 4 and my father’s office after that time was another 4 blocks east of that. The Jr. High I went to is 12 blocks east of Mr Black’s house. Short blocks, about a 1/2 mile.
At any rate, this guy was anything but the type of fellow who would have been acting crazy and out of control. 73 year old vet.
You must have had a bad experience. But you want to hate all cops be my guest. I think they have one heck of a hard job and when they get it wrong just one the whole world knows. Not all are bad news, not many at all.
“put the damn thing down when the cops pull up unless youre under imminent threat.”
Definitely. In such a situation one has to communicate clearly to police that you are a good guy and not act threatening.
Lots of questions here and impossible to sort it out without knowing the details of what happened when the police showed up — did the homeowner even know that the police had showed up, did the police order the guy to drop the weapon etc?
Humans are known to make mistakes. God seldom does.
OK- Thanks. Now we need to hear the whole story.
Get a bunch of female cops, you get a bunch of female rules - even when the females are not necessarily on site. Civilians are bound to die.
Seen a few cops that were obviously juicing. I do not think the PD departments check or much care.
One was a CHP that worked out at my gym. No way he got the big and strong without juice.
I suspect the higher ups do not care, just enhances that intimidation factor they love so much.
The grandfather and grandson tried to fight off the attacker first before the homeowner went to get his pistol.
Just a sad story all the way around. A woman loses her husband, a boy loses his grandfather, and the whole situation of a crazed individual breaking in at 130 AM and trying to drown a child in a tub.
Why give him a warning? Could be dangerous for them.
“Police in suburban Denver kill resident who shot intruder”
Here we go again.
It sure is. Sad and insane.
You are welcome.
Yep.. We never get the whole story.
Agreed. I just reread the article again. I’m afraid you’re right about the police not being held responsible for the man’s death.
