Jerusalem Post Israel News DOUBLE WHAMMY: FEMALE IDF OFFICER DOWNS SYRIAN JET AND DRONE
Cpt. Or Na'aman, commander of the Patriot battery of the 138th battalion, also commanded interception of Syrian drone two weeks ago
Captain Or Naaman commanded the Patriot battery which shot down a Syrian fighter jet over Israels northern Golan Heights on Tuesday, the IDF has confirmed to The Jerusalem Post.
As the commander of the Air Forces 138th Battalions Patriot battery, Naaman was also in charge of the interception of a Syrian drone which fell south of Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) almost two weeks to the day after the downing of the jet.
The Syrian Sukhoi fighter jet was intercepted Tuesday by two Patriot missiles launched from Safed after it penetrated two kilometers into Israeli airspace. The pilot, identified as Colonel Umran Mare of the Syrian coastal city of Tartus, was confirmed to have been killed.
Israel says it shot down the jet after it entered Israeli airspace from the Golan Heights border.
While it is now believed that the pilot likely made a navigation error, the incident is still considered by Jerusalem as a serious breach of Israeli sovereignty.
Syria confirmed that the plane, which was taking part in an offensive against Islamic State fighters in the Yarmouk Basin, was downed by Israel but Damascus has denied that it crossed into Israeli airspace.
According to a report by the Ynet news site, Russian officials protested the downing of the jet claiming that it had not breached Israeli airspace.
Israel then presented clear radar images which unequivocally proved that the Syrian jet had flown into Israel.
On Tuesday a Lebanese news site quoted a Syrian military officer as saying that Damascus has no intention of rushing into a war with Israel after the downing of the jet but that the response... will come soon enough.
"You will not have to wait long for a response, but well get there in a few steps. First, we need to finish all the ongoing military operations in the country. The direct response to the Israeli forces will come at an appropriate time.
The final step will be thwarting any attempts to remove the Syrian allies from the region, he was quoted by the El Nashra news site as saying.
In Tel Aviv they are aware that the situation that existed before the civil war is different from what will be after. It must be careful not to light the kind of fire that it will not be able to extinguish later. Israel shot down the plane knowing it was a Syrian plane in Syrian airspace," the source added.
Acting charge d affairs of Syrias permanent delegation to the UN Munzer Munzer said Tuesday that Damascus had informed the UN Security Council that Israel has given unlimited support to terror organizations in southern Syria and has carried out repeated military direct aggression in the war-torn country.
Syria, he was quoted by the SANA news agency as saying, would not negotiate or relinquish its rights to the Golan Heights until our occupied territory is fully restored.
Israel also continues its colonial settlement campaigns in the occupied Syrian Golan and the policies of repression against Golan citizens, looting their resources and arresting the Syrian people in a blatant violation of Geneva treaties, Munzer said
A muzzie taken out by a woman- if he survived he’ll never live it down.
2)Pilot in combat
3)blew the muzzie out of the air
4)and your point is?
He did not survive. Plane went down in an ISIS-controlled pocket, so hopefully for his sake he never reached the ground and it was the Israeli missile that killed him.
So much for his 72 Virginians.
Allah is telling him right now, “No virgins for you, Omar. A woman did this to you, a Jew, no less. Your shame is eternal.”
NBC, at least, used to claim that Patriot Missiles didn’t work.
Israel shoots down Syrian plan conducting a bombing mission against ISIS...claims it was in their territory.
Not exactly the kind of achievement the amen corner thinks it is.
More of a competent, accomplished, admirable woman than Hillary will ever be.......
To a country that considers women to be personal property and second-class citizens? Think about it.
Just FYI, Patriot missiles run $3 Million each. Drones, depending on type, can be anywhere from $900 dollars to several thousand. That’s not a good trade.
An Iron Dome missile costs $45,000 each. They are using them to take down drones costing as little as $900. Again, not a good trade.
Syrian jets are also pretty cheap.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.
Condescending, too. FO.
Why is it important that a woman shot them down?
Thank you.
The article states that the Syrian plane was on the offensive against ISIS when it was shot down. I fail to see why we should be cheering the Israeli pilot. Its not as if she shot down an Islamist. Just the opposite.
There seems to be a disturbing number of people on this site who want Israel to take out Assad and install an Islamist, Sharia compliant government. Thats insanity.
Assad is no angel, to be sure, but hes much better than the alternative.
Well, women DON’T belong in combat.
Appropriate, for the way those animals treat women.
She shot down a plane belonging to the SECULAR Syrian Government. Assads Government does not treat women as animals.
That would be ISIS. Ironically, she shot down a plane who was involved in a fight against ISIS. So, she actually helped the Islamist animals who abuse women.
Not smart.
No Paradise for m*zzies killed by females. Especially by Jewish females.
...Syria confirmed that the plane, which was taking part in an offensive against Islamic State fighters in the Yarmouk Basin...
If true why shoot it down?
And Israel says, “BRING IT!”
Syrian newspaper CLSIMS the jet was attacking ISIS or preparing to. But since Assad has said he intends to attack Israel in the near future. It’s just as likely they were using thus as a false attack on Isis to probe Israeli air defenses. If you penetrate Israel’s airspace without permission you will be shot down. Very smart. Syrian newspaperis propaganda by the regime.
