But now another classic sweets factory has shuttered — and it's unclear whether it will be bouncing back anytime soon. Necco, the maker of divisive, chalky treats, has bitten the dust and closed its factory on Tuesday. I hit every dollar store and meijers to get as many boxes of neccos as I could. ( for the grandkids - yeah, that’s the ticket).

That candy was invented before the Civil War. When I did re-enacting one of the ladies would put little packages together for us that would include NECCO wafers.

Now the kids are snorting Pixie sticks! LOL
I love them. And I love licorice. But I hate the black Necco wafers. I don't care what color they are, they just don't taste right.
If you keep them dry and out of the heat - I believe you would be accurate...

I used to be the buyer at a candy factory/candy repackager. All of Necco’s products suck. It is literally just a tiny step up from licking the flaps of a cross country semi as it pulls into receiving.
If you ever see praline pecans and the exp date is more than a year out buy some. Most underrated candy IHNO, and I have tried them all. Heat them in your oven for 5 minutes or so at its lowest setting.

Remember Chocolate Cigarettes? They were individually wrapped in white Wax Paper as I recall inside a Package that looked like a Pack of Cigarettes. I think they were Semi Sweet Chocolate. Those were yummy.
I used to buy Bubble Gum Cigars too.
