A ballboy flipped a foul ball to a young fan, but the kid did not catch it, allowing the ball to roll under his seat to the row behind him, where it was picked up, and kept, by an adult.
This adult might have deserved the benefit of the doubt. After all, he might have a child at home who also wants a baseball. This we dont know. But that goodwill went out the window because the ballboy specifically tossed the ball to the child in the front row.
Common sense and decency prevailed later in the game, when the Cubs delivered two baseballs directly to the kid, including a ball autographed by Javier Baez, no less.

Guess thats one of the risks of hanging with Da Bleacher Bums.
Glad to hear the Cubs made good on giving the kid a ball!
holycrap what a douchebag- and the people around him too
You’d be unlikely to find Bleacher Bums in that section in Wrigley; it’s more likely to be the sort of yuppie scum that infect that place (and generally wouldn’t survive that sort of stunt if pulled in the other ball park in town, not that they’d ever deign to go to a game on the South Side).
Bet theres two sides to this story... Welcome to our age of Judgment Porn.

When I was 9, I lost a foul ball to an adult, and didn’t get anything but a lesson in survival of the fittest.
Yikes. That was really a douchebag maneuver. Perhaps he deserves the benefit of the doubt since he wasn’t seeing this from our angle, but Id guess it would be pretty easy and common sensical to any normal adult to judge the situation for what it was intended to be.
That kinda thing would not happen at a NASCAR Race. Saturday after winning the Busch Race, Eric Jones Won, took the Checkered Flag from the Flag Man waved it and then handed it back through the fence to a Kid. No Adult would dare take the Checkered Flag from a Kid because there would be a riot.
What a scumbag! If it’s a foul ball and the adult ends up with it to take home to his kid that’s one thing, but when the ball was clearly tossed to the little kid and the adult grabs it and keeps it, that makes him a scumbag.
I am a grown man. While I might possibly get a kick out of leaving a major league ballpark with a ball, it wouldn’t really have any impact on my life if I did or did not.
What would really make me happy — and be something that would be a fun story to tell — would be to get my hands on an official ball and then hand it to a kid. I bet that would be a fun memory for him that would last for years. It would make my day if I could do that.
In any other ballpark, surrounding fans would have badgered the 40-year old bald guy to give the ball back to the kid.
In some parks, he would have to be escorted out by guards for his own protection.
Self centered jerk....plus he looks proud of himself
He probably voted for Hillary.
The Shitcago way!
You should watch the video. The adult who scrambled to snag the ball is a giant DICKBAG, and his wife, who was sitting right beside him, is a WHORE. Karma...
Those are some trash people. They should be absolutely mortified, but instead sat there and gloated about taking the kid’s ball! In a just world, the surrounding fans would have beat the crap out of the guy.
Either this whole story is BS or Fox News totally missed it. They just said the man behind the child had already got a foul and gave it to the child. Then he got a second one which he kept. Always spinning the story to create monsters.
The kid didn’t lose a foul ball to a dork ... the player tossed it to the boy and then the dork picked it up. Foul ball is fair game ... a ball tossed by a player directly to a kid should go to the kid.
