My Internist uses his tablet computer during a visit, which I found annoying and mentioned it - he put it down, apologized, and looked me in the eye. He then reached for the rubber gloves and said, “bend over”.
I had to laugh when I saw my Rheumatologist this past February. He walked in the room, and I said Hello, and asked him how he was doing. He stopped, his face lit up, and he said to me: “You know, you’re the first person who has asked me that this year.” He doesn’t spend too much time on the computer. My Endocrinologist sometimes irritates me as while I’m trying to tell him something, he’s posting my diabetes test strip results that I am asked to bring in whenever I see him. I’ve had to stop talking so he can concentrate on that, since it’s obvious he can’t listen, and type at the same time.
Mine does.
He’s a concierge doctor. We get first class service because we are willing to pay for what we need and not depend on “insurance”. Insurance companies are nothing but profiteers that get between you and your doctor.
I once went to a doctor--I had to see a specialist--and he just looked at his computer screen the entire time. I swore I would never do that with a patient--and I never saw him again.
My doctor looks me in the eye. He’s great!
I watched this earlier today. He is right.
It isn’t just doctors that have to deal with EMR’s.
Anywhere you go in healthcare now people from every department and job title have got their face in a screen.
Even at the vets!
I get no respect I tell ya’! I told my doctor “Hey doc, every morning I wake up I look in the mirror and I get sick. What’s the matter with me?’’ He said “ I dunno, but your eye sights perfect’’.
He lost me at his mention of “vulnerability”.
My ophthalmologist always looks me in the eye. Or actually, both eyes.
My doctor treats me, Mr. GG2, Mom, sis and BIL. He always has a smile and we chat and we ask him about his Mom. Then he gets on the laptop.
