The corporate media has overwhelmingly praised Barack Obamas speech in Johannesburg on Tuesday at an event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nelson Mandela, calling it an impassioned defense of democracy, tolerance, equality and the liberal capitalist world order established after World War II.
The reports have singled out Obamas muted and indirect criticisms of Donald Trumps strongman politics and the utter loss of shame among political leaders who are caught in a lie and just double down and lie some more.
No notice is being taken in the press reports of two points in the rambling, 90-minute address that exposes Obamas boundless cynicism and hypocrisy. In a cliché-ridden speech that deplored the explosion of inequality and argued for inclusive capitalism, Obama evidently departed from his written text to quip, with a smile:
Some [members of the new elite] even supported Barack Obama for the presidency of the United States, and by virtue of my status as a former head of state, some of them consider me as an honorary member of the club. (Laughter.) And I get invited to these fancy things, you know? Theyll fly me out.
Later, in the midst of a call to rein in the excesses of capitalism so that rich people are still rich but theyre giving a little bit back, he evoked more laughter and applause from his audience when he said, in a jocular voice:

Yes, he should give it all to the poo’er.......
This is all pay back for running the US deficit up 9 Trillion dollars of which a lot of these people got a huge chunk.
But...Soros is “disappointed” in Obama...just sayin’.
I guess he has to find a money stream somewhere to afford all this globe-hopping and the propaganda tour.
I’ll second that.
Unlike Trump, he didnt build that!
Same story as the dictators like Castro.
The only difference is: our politicians have learned to increment their revolutions and looting over time and wear nice suits.
Liberalism is always financially lucrative for the ones in power, not the ones they claim to represent.
Wasnt Obama the guy who said that no one needed to make more than $250,000?
He played a role channeling the mass revolt and guaranteed the IMF that capitalist property relations and the interests of foreign capital would be upheld. Just, WOW!
From the Money laundering Book Deal ?
I wonder what they are buying for all that money? Chewbacca for President?
yeah, him and all of hollywood and certain sports make millions per year and bitch about inequality but they aren’t giving shiot away.
They all want free college but I don’t see any of them sponsoring some kid’s higher education either.
I think the $75 million greatly underestimates the effective wealth of the Clintons. They control $400 million through their charitable foundation, which doesn't actually give much to charity. What they spend goes to cronies, and is often a political investment.
At what point will he have made enough?
“How many yachts can you water-ski behind?”
Theres only so much you can eat. Theres only so big a house you can have. Theres only so many nice trips you can take. I mean, its enough."
Sounds like he be rubbin' the p'oor peoples' noses in it...either that or he become a plantation owner hisself.
Unbelievable. The Clintons trained Boobamba and Chewbacca quite well.
They’re just massive hypocrites who feel they are entitled to steal your hard earned money and give it to other- The see themselves as royalty almost- entitled to lord over others
and for socialism to work everyone would get just a little over $12000 a year- Yay- won’t that be a grande utopia?
Bill Clinton also couldn’t contain his glee at how many people lined up to throw money at him after he was out of office, he bragged about how rich he was incessantly. Former dem presidents become fabulously wealthy after leaving office because of deals they made while they were President.
LOL, that’s a word I know of only because of M*A*S*H.
