At least 19 people were hospitalized as of Monday (July 2) after eating food that had been contaminated by exposure to feces at a neighborhood potluck birthday party in Charlotte N.C., the Charlotte Observer reported.
More than 40 people were sickened and more could become ill with a "highly contagious" disease called shigella, which causes diarrhea.
Someone who prepared food for Saturday's party, which was attended by about 100 people, did not wash their hands well enough...

When stationed in Germany we attended a small church off base. One thanksgiving they decided to have a pot luck Thanksgiving feast. We didn’t participate because it was a long weekend and we wanted to travel.
On Saturday my phone exploded with messages of people being sick and church on Sunday being cancelled because the pastor was among the ill.
Turns out that someone cooked stuffing in the bird and that was the cause.

That’s why I love potlucks. More for me. I’ve got an iron stomach.

My dad did a year in Korea during the Korean conflict, 5 years stationed in Japan and 2 tours of Viet Nam. ‘till his dying day he refused to even consider eating Asian food, and getting him into an Asian restaurant? forget it.
Why bother with hand washing?
Mexican food gets rid of sewer rats.
This food tastes like $hit.
Yuck! That’s one birthday party I’m glad I didn’t attend.
