You would think that the first priority for both teams in a football match is to win.
But that might not be the case when England take on Belgium at Kaliningrad Stadium in the World Cup tonight, as both sides could benefit from defeat.
For the loser will face an arguably easier run, with Sweden or Switzerland in the quarter-finals - before Spain, Russia, Croatia or Denmark in the semi-finals.

Looks like Poland is Colombia’s new best friend. As it currently stands, Poland has a 1-0 lead over Japan and Colombia and Senegal are tied at 0. If the games end that way, Japan and Poland go home.
Colombia just scored! That could help them win the group.
And that helps Japan.
What happens if there is a nil to nil tie? Sounds more continental.
Soccer is a sport that has so many people playing it because no one wants to watch it.
No question it stands out as a very low point in his career. The umpires had it out for him, but that was a very stupid move. It’s been reported that Brooks Robinson and others wanted to play. They were only 2 1/2 games out when forfeited.
So I'm a young teenage boy traveling around the Midwest with my father. He works and I mostly go to baseball games.
One night we were in Milwaukee. I took the "Stadium Bus" from our downtown hotel out to the old County Stadium. Lew Burdette was pitching for the Braves. As the game progressed it became obvious that he was working on a no-hitter. The tension was unbelievable. There was still no score going into the eighth inning where Burdette doubled and scored the only run. Still three more out to go for the no-hitter. Every pitch is cheered. And he did it. He faced only 27 batters, but missed a perfect game because he hit one batter who was doubled off on the next play.
I saw more than my share of baseball games as a kid. This was the most memorable.
After the game I got onto the "Stadium Bus" to go back to the hotel. Sitting behind me was a slightly older teenage couple. The girl said to the boy, "Gee, what a boring game. They only scored one run."
I nearly turned around and slugged her.

Each to their own.
Looks like Belgium does!
Tunisia ties Panama, so as it stands, poor Egypt is sitting alone with no points.
Tunisia 2 - Panama 1
Egypt’s off the hook, now Panama is the 32nd team in the tournament.
Think about that!
Panama is the worst team in the World Cup, and the US couldn’t even beat them out. Ouch!
I don’t get it, you should worry more about who your next opponent will be rather than the bracket. You would definitely want to play Japan rather than Colombia.
That’s a depressing thought.
Yeah, I’d rather play Japan than Colombia. But the rest of that bracket will be a challenge, no doubt.
Well England’s going out on PKs, anyway, it’s their destiny.
I still think Mexico has a shot against Brazil.
That’ll be a good match. Also looking forward to a possible Russia v Croatia match in the round of eight.
What, no mention here of the greatest throw in sports history?
The disgraceful moment eight Badminton players are KICKED OUT of the Olympics for deliberately trying to lose their games

Soccer. Third world kick ball.
Is there a more boring sport? Can’t even use your hands or arms. LOL.....I can see the headlines of the world cup final.....”Sweden lights up Brazil 1-0 to win world cup”........hahaha.....fools.
