After it made headlines in Hollywood for the wrong reasons, Sony Pictures Classics Boundaries is off to a tepid start at the indie box office, as it opened on five screens this weekend. Directed by Shana Feste and starring Vera Farmiga and Christopher Plummer, the film has made $30,395 for a per screen average of $6,079.
This past week, Peter Fonda, who has a minor role in the film, posted an angry Twitter rant aimed towards President Donald Trump and his wife and son, Melania and Barron, that was a knee-jerk response to the White Houses family separation policy towards undocumented migrants and asylum seekers.
We should rip Barron Trump from his mothers arms and put him in a cage with pedophiles, the actor wrote in a tweet that he later deleted. And see if mother will stand up against the giant a-hole she is married to.
Fonda later apologized for the tweet, but it still drew an angry response from Donald Trump Jr., who pointed out Fondas role in Boundaries.
I wonder if they will apply the same rules to [Fonda] that they did to Roseanne, Trump Jr. tweeted, referring to the cancellation of Roseanne Barrs ABC show following a racially charged tweet. I have a strange suspicion that they wont [sic] do anything.
Trump Jr.s tweet and the subsequent furor from conservatives prompted a statement from Sony Pictures Classics saying they condemned Fondas remarks as abhorrent, reckless and dangerous, but adding that removing his small role from the film days before release would unfairly penalize the filmmaker Shana Festes accomplishment, the many actors, crew members and other creative talent that worked hard on the project.

Boycott this film.
Conservatives and many moderates could cripple the liberal industries if they just had the will to refrain.
Ha! Nice one.
I wonder if they will apply the same rules to [Fonda] that they did to Roseanne,

They who laugh last...
Time to set up a protest at the movie theaters.
I have. I do.
I go to 1 or 2 movies a year now. No cable.
I love movies with a happy ending.
You win. :)
That is funny!
I don’t think they expected much at the box office.
I feel sorry for the other actors & staff, who have to be affected by loss of profits. (Not that indies make that much, anyway.)
Lots of collateral damage in Hollywood. Lots of innocent will be put out of work thanks to the antics of Fonda and his ilk.
Empty barrels make the loudest noise. Unfortunately they wreak the biggest havoc.
I suspect SONY executives gave him the secret go-ahead to make some waves, good publicity, we’ll act shocked, shocked later.
Play it again! Again! Again!!
Part of the problem is the 2 are so intertwined for business reasons. Even restaurants that are Christian based or other businesses have LIBTARDS who manage them and hire LIBTARDS as you can’t ask a person their politics when hiring. There is always a token MSM reporter on a paper on TV New low on the totem poll for Saturday/Sunday viewing, when then least people will see/read them.
